No order:

True greats: Valverde, Contador, Cancellara, Boonen

Next Teir: Cavendish, Gilbert, Nibali, Cunego, Rodriguez, Froome,

Wiggins, Rebellin, Basso, and Petacchi miss out

Just curious; what's your reasoning for putting Jrod and Froome before those who "miss out" in your list?

Tawwhe real elite trio. Riding with the best climbers while he sacrifices his own chances of winning for Andy. Now tell me again that Voigt is not a legend?

Voigt is not a legend. Only in his own eyes and the media who have fallen for all of his camera mugging and stupid quotes about how hard he works.

This is harsh,i get it you don't like the guy ok.But there is more to this than "camera mugging and stupid quotes about how hard he works".He could pass as a legend for some people, who are fans of cycling in general, not of one cyclist/some cyclists and lose the broad picture.

I never got what was so special about Voigt.

"Shut up legs"? Do you really think Voigt has a much higer resistance than other, better riders in the pack? If anything, he is the only one who cries about it.
Yes, he was an aggressive rider, but I can hardly recall a single breakaway where he did something truly memorable.

At most he could be the highpoint of your day if you watched the last 70 km's of every flat TDF stage. A guaranteed failed attack from the break to make things 'exciting'.

Never in a million years will Voight be considered a Great. The broad picture says, one or at most two of today's active cyclists will be considered great in the future.

How, in any interpretation of the word, would Voigt be considered one of the "greats" of the sport? I just don't get it. What am I missing here?

Yeah, it's absurd. Voigt managed to get recognition and money far exceeding his cycling ability. Well done I guess, but what we're talking about when we discuss greatness is the riding a bike part of professional bike racing.

No love here for Cadel as a great.

In the leaders jersey of a GT 12 years gap

Don't think he'd quite make it as a great, probably would be in top 10 if he was still riding

That's why Jensie deserves to be mentioned among the best. He was an indestructible workhorse that animated most of races he participated in. If he had waited for the absolute finale, he would have won classics and podiums + top 10's in GTs.

For many people, Jens is a bigger name than Gilbert, Rodríguez or Valverde. Without a guy like Jens, no one would bother to watch cycling. Why can't you just admit that Jens is one of the greatest riders of his generation? He has 66 victories for f**k sakes. More than any of those three I just mentioned.

Jens is famous, and personable in his way, I will give him that. I am finding myself liking him much less than I did over the past few days though.

Valverde has a lot more victories, Gilbert has around the same but a lot bigger wins and Rodriguez also suffered from having to be a domestique like Voigt.

Yet, unlike Voigt he managed to obtain tons more high profile wins and podiums. If Voigt had been capable of doing just that, he would have done so too.
