It was a no. And I actually wrote the correct French, then deleted and "corrected" it to something wrong by putting in the gender pronoun rather than the more general but, in French, correct "ce", i.e. "it's not Vantomme" as opposed to "he isn't Maxime Vantomme".

And Echoes: not Walloon to my knowledge, but I may be wrong. He wasn't born there.

It seems to me that he's always raced road and in another discipline too. But he started competition very very very young and it's possible that at that time he was strictly racing road.
