Has he participated in any major race?
Was he ever actually a rider?
Jokes aside...
Has he participated in a week-long stage race?
Has he participated in a cobbled classic?

Interesting.

Might the classic that used to have cobbles be the race formerly known as Paris-Bruxelles?

Is the rider from a Benelux country?

Is the rider a relative (son, brother) of somebody more famous?

Is the Bayern Rundfahrt a noteworthy week-long stagerace in this regard? Hessen Rundfahrt? Niedersachsen Rundfahrt?

Is he a time trial specialist?

He was, by my definition, not a TT-specialist (à la Tony Martin), or a designated sprinter or climber as we know them today. He didn't ride the Henninger Turm but he was a pro.(Hint: this might be misleading)

He's not Bert Dietz or Holger Loew.
