Haimar Zubeldia: The Anonymous One

The mystery of ninja-Zubeldia goes on. Showing him in the results would be just too much attention. He can't be seen. And if, then not for a long period of time. Still, I am happy for him. Consistency in person.

Spaniards gotta be happy to see so many of their own at the Top of the leaderboard, not that it really comes as a surprise. Couldn't have drawn up a better profile for Valverde.

With Contador at 32yo being the youngest of them Spain is entering into its golden age of cycling with its top riders joining the likes of Peraud and Horner.

I think Zubeldia might struggle to uphold his ninja status, he is racing with the home ground disadvantage.

Nicely vanished out of top 20 today:D

There's a reason for that. The camera showed him for a split second and voila -- off the back.

No camera time and he would have invisibly finished high enough to keep his GC place.

so what will he do now?
Just continue same model. Hang in there and drop more time etc.
Still the best man (by far) for Trek GC wise.

We'll probably see him attack and go for stage wins now he has lost a bit of time.

Not only did they show him but, on Universal Sports at least, they had a caption on the bottom of the screen with his name--truly the kiss of death for the ninja.

Oh ye of little faith...he dropped down because he was too prominant too soon

He is 1.5 mu=inutes off the top 10 ....See him slowly and undercover work his way back up esp on the longer climbs

Exactly! He is a masterful ninja that has perfected his craft of the anonymous over many years of diligent study. He will disappear now only to show up again on the 21st stage where we will suddenly realize he's already been back in the top 10 for over half the race.
