Just because you're not open to this race, doesn't mean you're not open to innovation. It just means in this case you're not open to bad innovation. As the cliche aptly states; you don't have to jump of a cliff to see that it's a bad idea. I don't mind changes in cycling, I do mind changes which take away the essence of the sport I love.

What are the actual names of the climbs?

Love the fact that they could only find false flats to host this event

"That means that a team's better sprinters, climbers or time triallists can sit one out"
So they've introduced the worst part of American Football as well. Don't see the point in this whole thing really. I'm happy with it just being a sort of post GT race along with all those other crits you get after the Tour, say. It doesn't offer any points or anything, right?

I still want to see the MTT individual pursuit in a one week stage race that some people here floated about as an idea. Now that would be something I want to see. So in a sense similar to this, just better and more tied into the essence of cycling.

I will withhold judgement until I see the event (which I am looking forward to watching.) Don't know why people are being so critical before they have seen whether it's entertaining!

Quickstep look like the favourites to me with Gilbert and Gaviria ...

The cycling fanbase must be one of the most conservative around. Hammer may be crap but I'll give it a chance before knocking it.
I dunno, what do you think NBA fans would do if the teams decided to replace Basketball with a game of horse?
As a person whos been brought up with european way of watching sport and what we think American sport-culture is; watch the the game of horse and eat popcorn.

How do you think NBA fans reacted when they decided to add the 3 point shot?
I'd argue that's a way bigger change than adding a .1 race with odd rules to a calendar with 100+ standard races.

Indeed. People are exaggerating here.

I'll give it a chance. Could be spectacular, could be chaos, who knows.

Racing looks good, the production is absolute crap unfortunately.

They're not even going to display the points ?!?

It's like watching a football/basketball game where they hide the score and you have to count yourself ...
