I was critical of GW's treatment of Lemond & his subsequently poor handling of the aftermath of those comments. But having read and reread the photo article in this month's CS I have to say IMO too much is being read into his words.

He's willing to throw 'berto under the bus and subsequently ignore decades worth of evidence on others. My guess is that 'berto shots do not sell well. If they did, GW would be defending him to the death.

Because no one ever saw stupid superhuman performances in the peloton before that. Back to GW being a sold man...

No superman performances?

What about Merckx?

He certainly had some amazing wins . . .

Right, but he wasn't breathing through his nose when he had them.

Try again.

The most ridiculous thing about this is Watson purporting that ASchleck will soon be an "idol" and lusted after by the ladies.

Really? I don't know that many young hotties who go for the "skeletor" look.

(But if they do, Watson may need to hit the treadmill in order to even dream about getting laid again.) :p

Andy will be the new thing in cycling, he will really be the new Lance. I do not know about the ladies but I like his personality I think he is more appealing in many ways than Contador.

I am sure in Andys' mind Andy is lusted after by the ladies. That will make him a better rider.

Exactly. They need to get rid of him. No-one buys it for his section, but plenty are now boycotting it until he's gone.

+1

After I read that article yesterday, Procycling is now my preferred magazine. I used to weigh between CS and ProCycling, thanks for making my monthly chore easier GW.

Funny how CS has a great writer in Lionel Birnie who is usually pretty forthright in his opinions about dopers and doping apologists and was on one of Armstrongs **** lists and then they take Watsons pictures and give him a mouthpiece. I don't read it anymore as it is pretty dire but I woudln;t be surprised if Armstrong has been featured in each of Watsons monthly columns.

Goes to show that the cycling press may not like Armstrong but he helps to sell magazines.

To be fair Watson doesn't work for CycleSport. He's commissioned on a monthly basis to provide photos and some comments. The editor really should have taken control and changed the wording. Watson is freelance and that's the way he likes it. He works alone.*

The cycle press has largely dropped Armstrong. Most are pretending the investigation is not occurring and that Armstrong does not exist.

In regards to CycleSport: in same edition they make the comment: "....we often wonder when Lance is alone in his own thoughts does he think that Comeback 2.0 was a mistak?"

When the comeback was announced I wondered if this wasn't an opportunity for the truth to come out. As long as Armstrong was retired he was hard to go after, but the comeback put him in the spotlight (which was the effect he wanted to maximise revenue) and also opened the door to make the recent events possible.

All things considered, it looks like the comeback will have been a huge mistake long term - although the end of the story isn't yet know.

he defo wont think it was his mistake as he doesn't make mistakes, someone will have taken a fall for it :D

I think Brad has been seduced by Lance. Wiggo wants to be him. You see its easy to train harder than anyone else when you take so many drugs and never have to worry about testing positive. I could ride up a mountain 7 times in a row if you gave me enough EPO and had paid the testers to stay away for a couple of days. Oh Brad please go back to who you used to be.... I liked the pint swilling, long haired, anti-doping lout you used to be. The man before Lance got to you.

My favourite bit was "In the Tour, his [Lance] day long escape to Pau attracted over 32,000 followers...."

Does he think this man is Jesus or something?

And btw, "his" day long escape should read "that day where Lance followed Chris Horner's wheel all day long and then still couldn't pass him at the finish"

Of course Watson is talking up Andy Schleck. Lance has been doing that too. Andy is the heir apparent, LA's chosen one, who shall take down the evil Contador, ride a Trek, and put money into Armstrong's pocket.

Really? I don't think it is. He's taken it upon himself to decide the fate of Contador before the hearings are over, before all the evidence has been presented. In other words he's guilty of doing what he so desperately doesn't want anyone to do to Lance.

If he hadn't babbled on about wanting to 'shop Andys' jersey I could have let it slide as just a bitter rant but it goes beyond that.

And if it's a year in review piece how can he NOT mention the Armstrong / Landis case?

Sorry for getting you blocked by GW on Twitter Dim. Can we get the 'blocked by Lance' twibbon updated to include Watson & Pelota? ;)

My Lance is in control of the situation. He has been fuming since 93 about people who dope in cycling. The investigation is for Lance to get to the bottom of this cycling doping problem. He has been working undercover with the FEDs and Mr. Novitzky ever since Floyds pos. Hopefully when Lance comes out of Deep Cover operation" Lets' make cycling a clean and loving sport like in 1990", will prove that Johann and Lance and Jeff can work to snuff out this doping scorge!

What's his code name?

Deep Throat's taken.

Cancer Man's taken.

I'd be going for an other one, but an intrepid poster here already snagged. Yup, talking about you, Hugh Januss - no offence, I just like your tag...

One Nut just doesn't have that 'je ne sais quoi' appeal of the others.

Graham Watson does it again. This time he disses womens racing by tweeting:

@gerardvroomen hmm..sorry, but I cannot see 80 women racing across the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix!

Does this guy get dead drunk on a regular basis and fall prey to self destructive brain farts or what?

Not that I don't trust you, Bro but I had to check that for myself.

Here's one of the things that's wrong with Twitter (or really just its users, I suppose). It can be near impossible to follow the dialogue when you're only seeing one side of the conversation. Vroomen's account is even more disjointed; I couldn't seem to find what prompted Watson's tweet in the first place.

But Jeezus! In light of recent controversy, just how dense can Watson be? It's beyond ignorant and offensive. Seeing that he posted that over 24 hours ago, I'm surprised this hasn't blown up more. What a tool.

My suggested punishment?
For the entire season, make Watson wear that striped "thing" that Vroomen is sporting on his page.

(and people are worried about JV's fashion sense?) :D

Which only goes to prove that women are smarter than men, let me count the ways.

Right on Ghrahm.

I would let him have one of my other favorites which I have never used here, Jack Hoff.

Is GW looking for something from LA, more work, possibly the offical liestrong photographer to travel the globe photographing uniballer is uniballplane and uniballmobile as he lays hands on the millions of cancers sufferers who need him to be their voice to bring about the awareness of this terrible disease to the world that hardly anyone has heard of:D

I think Elizabeth Kreutz in Austin is on-call photographer?
