Can we start a petition to ask him to not retire?
Retiring when you still have something left in the tank IMHO is always a waste and there is always the risk of regretting it or even wanting to come back, we've seen that also recently with Contador and Boonen.

He probably just doesn't like him. It's a pity though, cause his "hero" from the avatar considers him the best rider of their generation.

Roughly 15 officially. In sports it seems 10 years is more accurate.

Next up is Catalunya. Honestly, a very winnable race considering his form so far, the completion, the route (its an easy one). Looks like a rather bad race tbh - unless im reading this route wrong - but Valverde is a master on La Molina and in Barcelona, so this could still be very interesting..

I can't see Higuita being a favorite over Valverde on any route. Yates could be, though...

Isn't that 2019 Vuelta stage Higuita's only WT-level win? If the PCS partial start list is accurate, there are might be 10 riders I view more likely to win the GC.

I think people are underestimating the route. The MTFs are too long for Higuita. Especially Boí Taüll.

Simon Yates will likely destroy the rest on that climb. Porte and Quintana are secondary favorites.

Edit: Forgot Almeida. Simon Yates' biggest challenger IMO.

Two out of three down with illness, but number one was spot on. Apparently it wasn't obvious to some others.

He had problems with sickness and allergies in Catalunya. But even without that, he would have taken a break before Flèche. Itzulia was never part of his schedule, I think. Without any race between Catalunya and Flèche, it's hard to guess where he stands form-wise, but I think if he has overcome his health issues, he should be in good shape.
