Full time cancer fighter! I love that.

I agree with dimskyfans, TP's comments are disappointing. When you're young and stupid, keep silent for heaven's sake. Just drink your medicine and ride your bike. Maybe Liggitt wasn't confused in isso's signature line, TP is already in the lead bunch in the race against the truth.

Hello everybody. Recent lurker, first time post etc etc. :)

Huh. That about Levi's positive, and the attempt to wipe it from history, is as fascinating as that blog from young Taylor is worrying. He's obviously succumbed to the charm offensive. They wouldn't be so stupid as to dope the U23 squad though, would they? I hope for Alex Dowsett's sake they wouldn't. The time to worry is when they move to the RS squad.

Is Levi on Twitter? If so, it might be worth a "naive" twitter to him or LA along the lines of "Reading about you/Levi losing a crit champs in 1996 after positive test, but can't find any reports of this, is it true?" and see whether you get blocked :p

And this must surely be a topic for those Toto guys? Levi being the lapdog while LA and JB are sat at computers as new articles about Levi's positive test come up "there's another one, quick, delete!" while treating Levi as a slave as his payment for them helping him out? Like elder brothers treated the younger brothers in those 80's teen comedy films. :D

Here's the link from Winning Magazine "On the Grapevine" News Dec 4th 1996:

A USA Cycling disciplinary panel recommended that Levi
Leipheimer receive a three-month suspension as a result
of a violation of Bylaw N., Section 2, Part 4, Prohibited
Practices, stemming from competition at the USCF Amateur
Men's Criterium Championship, Aug. 18 in Grandview
Heights, Ohio. That recommendation has been upheld by
Lisa Voight, USA Cycling executive director. The 23-year-
old Leipheimer will be required to return his national
championship jersey, medal and prize money. He will also
be suspended from the U.S. National Team for the same
period. The decision is subject to appeal.

It is an amazing find. No one can find something like that with Google because the word "doping" is never used. It reads like a small blurb that was put out by USA Cycling to explain why Leipheimer was no longer champion while giving as few details as possible. Winning Mag then printed it verbatim without making the obvious expansion that would explain what happened.

It must have been nice to be on the National Team at the time. Get popped for doping, serve your short suspension during the off season, and then come right back on the team. It looks like the same attitude that existed when Carmichael was shooting kids up with dope carried through to at least the mid 90's.

I decided to post it up on my site so that the inevitable traffic and linking will help ensure that this newsworthy item isn't buried again. Please share the post address and link up to it.

Watch it, bro. You will get Armstrong's crew mad at you, and they will block you on Twitter--well, maybe they will have to think of something else.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting "10 people to say he took EPO"....

Dear Public Strategy interns - please PM me, I have some information, I will except cash only.

I deny the claims of this so-called expert, and have to wonder if I am even reading English. You must love cancer and be French.

That didn't take long. Time for an edit war. Just keep reverting it, then apply for page protection, and in the meanwhile someone email me a scan of a hard copy of the sanction announcement and I'll get it on a non-blog site that can be cited as a legit reference...

Suprised the ephedrine info was not in there already, but it WAS a pretty obscure bust.

BTW, I just added the stuff about his Animal Rights Foundation too:)

Is he really a vegetarian? wow...he goes pretty good. You'd think he might get anaemic in such a tough sport.

here lies your problem.. the user jackb108 who keeps reverting levis wiki page, also had this to say regarding lance's doping allegations..

If you are going to link to this page right off Lance Armstrong`s Wiki page, it is not going to require "careful reading of the introduction" here for a reader to realize that at least one person listed here, the American rider Lance Armstrong, was never convicted of even one doping infraction in a very long and (still vibrant) career.Jack B108 (talk) 00:03, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Ahhh, so that is why Armstrong's Wikipedia page is so biased. It is filled with subtle and not so subtle distortions. I remember things like the page mentioning that Dr. Ferrari conviction was reversed, implying that he was innocent, but in reality he got off because of the statute of limitations and the judge made it clear that he was guilty.
