Okay, nice job by Williams.

Too bad for Israel that Strong abandoned, otherwise they would almost already have secured elevation with how many points are given for this race...

When I said,, doing a leg stress test was quirky, in any race, but extraordinarily strange to hear from a pro in a pro race I was quoting from a tweet that Tobydawg had in Isaac Del Toro thread.. so before it is to become a rabbit hole.. Don't know who the woman is who put it on Twitter and no way to ever know if he ever said that..
What I saw happen was people pulling their shorts down to discard excess liquid.. Throughout the race I have never seen so many nature breaks caught on camera!!
I think past bicycle racing camera operator training told them when a rider pulls their shorts down or pulls off to the side of the road move the camera as to not show what is going on..
First time I can ever remember watching a World Tour race (streaming) and an NFL playoff (on broadcast TV) at the same time. I’m not a big multitasker but all good right now!

Nice fight by the bull

It was good to see a Pro team accept their offer to a WT race and ISN reaped the rewards.

Yeah, they almost always decline those...
It's like they figured out that they need points but didn't think of it till they got relegated... Kinda too late for that but better late than never.

ISN had a good 2023 - It's not like travelling to Australia had a negative impact on their season.

Lotto Dstiny declined their invitation to the 2023 TDU.

Yes, I did think that was what you were referring to. But it's not like teams usually don't go to all the WT races not located in Australia they can. It's going to take up a lot of my time if I am to shake my fists in jubilation every time a team accepts a wildcard...

Lotto didn't go this year either, by the way.

It's the wider implication that travelling to Australia affects your big season goals - For example in two of Froome's TDF winning years he rode the Aussie summer.

Well good for Williams and IPT - especially with all the news coming out of the Middle East. Young Del Toro making his mark too, which will hopefully boost the interest in Mexico. Jayco must be disappointed with Plapp crashing out, Ewan not up to the job and Yates obviuosly not in top shape.

It could also be a consideration of the economy. Flying an entire team to spend three weeks in Australia is not free.

yeah, we had the same discussion last year. Yaco won't agree anyway, but the reason IPT goes to Australia and other pro teams not, is that they have loads of money.

Biggest win of Williams career, Narvaez really consistent while I expected a bit more from Onley after his win yesterday.

Great attitude from Del Toro, he didn't manage to drop his rivals but he came down swinging, impressive World Tour debut.

Lemmen the surprise of this race.

Uttrup did make an interview talking about that. Or, more specifically; how the men fly business class, while the women don't.
getting WT status came with some demands, as is resulted in WT teams being "forced" to go to Australia. So afaik the TDU organizers need to pay a lot more hotel nights and at least part of the travel costs, while UCI rules would normally only require hotels for the duration of the race and sth like 3k for the whole team.

The wildcard or women's teams are not mandatory participants, so these rules may not apply to them

Time for Williams to have a break, DNF a couple of one day races and appear again on peak form on Qinghai Lake or Osterrich Rundfarht to take the GC and put an end to his season with 30 race days

The UAE Tour operates on a similar model where fairly much everything is paid for by the organisers.
