The UAE Tour operates on a similar model where fairly much everything is paid for by the organisers.
yeah, but while they have unlimited money in UAE, Turtur said himself "our budget restricts us in the number of teams we can have start" a couple of years ago. And I assume it didn't increase just because the UCI changed the rules and added more teams they have to invite.

So I don't know for sure of course, but as only the Pro Team with the largest budget made the trip to Australia so far - and neither Total in 2020 nor Lotto in 2023 or 2024 - I would still think it's likely they get a worse deal than the WT teams.

All teams and riders stay at the Adelaide Hilton. The organisers book it out.

every organizer needs to book & pay the team hotels during the race, and (on paper, at least) offer similar conditions for everyone. So my point was more about the flights, additional hotel nights to acclimatize etc, which are not covered by UCI rules, and whether teams are treated equally in that regard as well.

and he's got an ITT on him too. LAst year 4th in Gran Camino ITT and ex world champion military. Wonder how he'll do on a Cervelo.
But uh, I don't expect he'll be a Roglic lol. More like another good helper in their insane team

I'm not saying he's going to be a Roglic, but I am saying this performance reminds me a lot of Roglic' performance in Algarve 2016 where he was 3rd and 6th on Foia and Malhão - not able to win but almost capable of following the best.

Algarve had a stronger field, though.

But Roglic didn't have U2 write a song about him before he was born. Though as anything U2 has ever done, also this was half-assed, as they predicted Lemmen would be a girl. "She's gonna make you cry, she's gonna make you whisper and moan... Lemmen!

Is anyone going to start a 'Stephen Williams is the new Isaac Del Toro' thread?
It's interesting when a solid journeyman like Williams has an exceptional performance, in a lot of ways it's less expected than Del Toro doing what many said he would do.

Williams has about the same number of pro wins as Romain Bardet, for example. Ofc they have mostly been in lower-level races, but he's still having a pretty good career.

Gee, I can't see too many obstacles in this course. Logically it will be a course for a Ewan and Welsford BUT if Jayco use their numbers they could break open this course - I am certain that you will get good crowds as their is a strong cycling culture in perth.

I hope there's more to it than just a 6km circuit around Kings Park.
Lovely as Kings Park is, that would be boring as batshit.
There's got to be a run in from the coast or something.
