Sack plap on the spot, he does nothing all season, clearly he just wants to stay in Australia to do races like tour of bright and drink beers. You could use his contract money to sign an actually good rider who uses his brain and help the team get results. I would even give his contract money to somin Yates and just say, 'look Yatesy you can do whatever races you feel like and train how you want and we won't bother you', and still you're getting more value than having PLAPP on the team

Huh?

So... the Dutch guy, who changed to Vatican (or is it Holy See?) Nationality just rode - at least partially - the Australian National Championships?

Uhm... okay then...

How did Gilmore do? Cause seems like a bad sprint, but maybe he really raced along with the guys and emptied his tank?

Pretty stupid that Vine just gave up, and then his group ended up riding for the win.
Pulled for a few laps on his own.

Probably took it is a harder training session.

Dont think he would have been able to win, but the others should probably thank him for getting the opportunity.

Edit: Squire beat me to it.

Gilmore is good and could win a race or two. he only started cycling in 2020 so has lots of development. He is a punchy rider who is good on 5 minute climbs.

I think he was in a move in the last 10km but then Plapp and BOC passed him/got away.

Sorry, mixed him up with Rudy Porter for Jayco.
Gilmore rides for NSN, obviously.

Its a shocking day for Jayco because they will struggle to win a stage or GC at the TDU and Cadel's race is always a crap shoot.

Finally, my biggest worry is Jayco rode the race for O'Connor and he could not finish it off which does not augur well for his 2026 season. Anyway off to the airport to fly to Oz for the TDU.

Yeah, can understand if Durbridge is pissed.

He probably would have won, if Plapp and other teammates just cover attacks to then sit up. He probably would have had enough seconds to hold on to the line. Or worst case, his teammates would have been more fresh in the finish and if not winning they wouldnt have looked as a-holes.

Nice rant. Happy to keep Plapp though

Nationals aren't supposed to ridden as teams - it's everyone for themselves......So Plapp didn't actually do anything wrong.........

The TDU roadbooks are meanwhile available, and (as expected) confirm that tt bikes won't be permitted for the prologue

"Standard road bikes only will be accepted for the prologue. The use of time trial bikes or handlebar extensions is not permitted. The use of TT/aero helmets, along with aero and disc wheels is permitted."

Bad news for all posters who want cycling to turn a blind eye to everything else going on in the world: the season starts with ramped-up scrutiny of the TDU's title sponsor. I know there have been protests before, but both coverage in a major international newspaper and explicit criticism by active riders (including one who will be at the race) are a step beyond what we've seen so far.

turn a blind eye? well let's start to have just Aussie riders residing in AUS race the TDU and not fly all these riders and staff and stuff from Europe. then we'll talk. ah, and AUS riders will have to ride to Adelaide. don't they dare take a plane across Australia.
