He seems to ride outside the red lines when on the straight part of the track, while closing in in the curves. Maybe these trajectories have been studied?
I don't see any pattern.. seems like he is just messing it up.

but I never watch track cycling so I have no clue.

His virtual racing line is pretty steady on most of the laps I've seen, but he's not attempting to hug the black. This venue encourages constantly taking a wide berth in preparation for the next turn, so it's not a great venue for an hour record attempt IMO. Manchester seemed better.

how can the graphics be this bad btw? They should show graphs, average speed, etc.

Seems to depend who films it. Dennis's effort was well-covered with graphics.

I'm sure Kirby has done some altitude training. He is not even breathing when he talks. And can speak for several minutes without as much as taking a tiny pause.

is it me or does he look ridiculously quicker than dowsett did? sky presentation is nowhere near as good as eurosport was, how is he doing?

The strategy selected for Dowsett (according to interview in Pro Cycling this month) was to be deliberately behind Dennis until 15minutes to go and then up the pace. He didn't fully agree with it but did with hindsight.

This is what makes it disappointing: A rider sposored by a sports broaadcaster in the most-anticipated attempt can't get it right!

Further to my previous post, the shape of this velodrome will cost Wiggins several laps I'd say.

The amount of freds and fredinas on the stands wearing Sky apparel is cringeworthy.

same tv production team as the Dekker effort judging by on screen info

From memory, Voigt, Brandle, Dennis and Dowsett were all well covered in terms of graphics. Dekker much less so, though it made for a great commentary from Kirby. Bobridge's was awful. Don't recall seeing Larssen's though.

Larsson was not televised I think.

That would explain it! :D

I think he's gonna do 55+

55,4 average for last 30 minutes? Could be done. I still want to see him do it at 1000+m elevation. Hopefully he gives it one more shot

Not just at altitude but on one of those joke velodromes that look like a test tube.
