Don't have a single favourite, it comes down to style of race
Cav for the sprints is still mesmorizing, and helps that i am british - however, he can't be my favourite as he makes the sport so boring.
Favourite riders include Chavanel,Voigt,TiVO, Nibali, Schleklet, Contador etc. - most mountain goats/breakaway specialists, none british (and in fact all from different nationalities)
But, if I were to have to name 1 name than maybe...
Spartacus
So answer to the 4 quesitions (and stupid me chose the wrong option as I couldn't see which i had clicked!)
1) Spartacus
2) Swizerland
3) UK
4) No

1) Schleck bros - was Frank, now Andy (all time - Coppi)
2) Lux (It)
3) UK
4) No

Patriotism does come into it as I took a sneaky pride in Wiggo and Cav and esp Millar's ride into Barcelona but having said that I would've preferred Frank on the podium even if Wiggo dropped a place. Strangely I also like Kirchen so maybe I ain't British after all!

Just curious...

1) Who is your most favorite rider?
2) What country is he from?
3) What country are you from?
4) Are the answers to (2) and (3) the same?

Answer the poll, too, please.
Contador
Spain
USA
No

I've been following Contador since he was most famous for almost denting a lamp post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVzNFnOx-RA

Nys is right there with AC. He's like the Eddy Merckx of cross.

Where patriotism comes into it is that I follow lesser known americans that haven't really done much yet, especially the local guys. One of the Garmin guys (the other TD from CO) used to be a junior on my club. Watching his near stage win at he Dauphiné Libéré online was one of my favorite moments this season.

Favourite rider

Thor Hushovd, his attacking style winning stages that fly in the face of his build, winning TTs and sprints against the worlds best. He rocks, definetly lets the cranks do the talking.

What race is that from? It's scary stuff when a foot comes out of a pedal, it has happened to me once when going up a hill in a bunch (although I was going quite fast), but I did not crash. I saw one guy in a sprint (against Robbie McEwen) last year and his foot came out of the pedal and he went down at more then 60km/h. Was not pretty.

I think it was the last stage of Paris-Nice in 2005 when he was 22, but my memory might be playing tricks.

1) Who is your most favorite rider? Currently, Contador and Valverde. Got into cycling following Luis Ocaña's painful career. Yes, I am rather ancient.

2) What country is he from? All Spanish.

3) What country are you from? Ex-pat from Spain, currently living in the Dom Rep.

4) Are the answers to (2) and (3) the same? Yup. I've found you get more patriotic the longer you live outside your country of birth -- nostalgia plays a big role in growing old.
