...that you know a lot more about cycling and can proclaim that the Giro is better?

In my case, very.

What no poll? Then no reference to September or even April or August when the signings go on? Just July? :(

Yes, I'm working on my thesis and I was bored, so I gave myself a tiny little break only :p

I see your smug and raise you the smug that comes from having got past the point where you feel the need to say the Giro is better to prove you are not a July fanboy even when 2011 Tour was clearly a better race than 2011 and 2012 Giros.

You will grow out of it.

But not before the 'any race with rain and cobbles is best' stage

The 2011 Giro had the most epic mountain stage in recent history. The Tour might have had a tighter race for GC, overall it was a bit "meh".

I can't believe you actually made a post that isn't blindly proclaiming Euskaltel to be perfect saints who never do anything wrong!

See? I can troll too :D

I know more, as I can see how July will struggle to be worse than May.

Would have thought that you would claim that this year the Vuelta is better, maybe even the Eneco Tour is better?

 I just dislike that some people act like the Tour is so much better than any other race. So I will kindly remind those people of the fact that that isn't necessarily true. And yes the Vuelta will be better, at least it has a normal amount of mtf.

The Vuelta has a 'stupid' amount of MTFs actually. Like, way too many. Some are fine, others are a bit overkill; I fail to see what Valdezcaray, for example, will bring to the race, and using Arrate early is fine (it's a smallish climb, gaps will be small, but it will sort the wheat from the chaff) but the stage leading up to it is chronically poor for a País Vasco stage.

What it really needs is the Logroño stage to be an ITT, rather than a circuit race. That would vastly improve the route.

Oh, and in answer to the OP's question, probably unbearably.

Just so we're all clear, no one outside the clique is going to give a monkeys.

So the smugness really boils down to beating up on whichever fools wonder this way next month. Given the board is populated by an abnormal proportion of tools and fools at the best of times, I can't really see the point in focussing in on one month to find it annoying.

It's nice to know at least some of us are above acting superior.

It has nothing to do with acting superior, at least not for me. It's just annoying, people acting like Tour is God and that includes cyclists *cough* Andy *cough*

The Tour, whatever way you look at it, is the biggest race in cycling and it does dominate the calendar.

To say it is the only race or that it is the most exciting race would be wrong but its superiority is undoubted.

Libby, can you blame me when people miss what you were quite obviously saying, like this.

This was a tongue in cheek topic only people.

Ok well...

Just to state my honest predicament, no one I know in real life whom I interact with cares about the Tour so I am left to expressing my smugness on this forum. Which is just a forewarning to all users that they may have to bear with me for the next month.....:p

Then you should bore them to death with talk about the Giro, they might want to stop you and watch the Tour with you. It is a start.

I don't post a lot, mainly because this place is so full of irrational fanboy's and obsessive doping experts that it's almost pointles. But in July this place gets stupider than the Velo News comment section. I don't plan on reading any of it.
