How is this race a monument? One day out and 40 measley responses in the race thread??

Its a salient point and as has been said already, confusing thread titles to blame allied to Lombardia being an underrated race generally, some say the weakest monument but my personal favourite apart from Roubaix. Too much messing around with the parcours and date also perhaps.

Would like Gilbert to win this one, loves the race with two wins on his CV and also loves bad weather if it rains(as does Purito),think Gilbert won alot of his fans back last week burying himself for GVA,never really got the hate for Gilbert on here, class act. Underachieved at BMC? Maybe but still a terrific palmares.

He has to be a good chance and BMC have brought a strong squad with them. Can't see Contador or Kwiatkowski winning. Rodriguez loves the race and has to be favourite along with Valverde.

Man, you just listed one of the very best hilly classics rider and a climber saying that neither has a chance to win. So what is this, a race for sprinters?

I see two scenarios here. Either the tempo is really hard and only climbers are left before the last ramp (although I don't see Contador winning this one, mor elikely Dan Martin, Dani Moreno, Aru, Rodriguez or Valverde), or nobody really does anything before the last ramp (20-30 riders still in a group) and then riders like Kwiatkowski and Valverde have the biggest chance (Kwiatkowski might not make it first over the top but he should make up the gap on descent)

Bettini won lombardia after becoming WC. I think it was 2006, but im not sure.
Thanks. It's been a while then? Obviously, you have a target on your back if you are the WC but, even so, still seems like quite a while back.

Thanks. Be interesting to see if the curse crops up again. Kwiatkowski is a good all-rounder so if nothing else he should show off the jersey in plenty of (different types of) races.

Well you can't select everyone to win and I think Valverde and Rodriguez will do better than the other two. That's not to say Kwia or Contador won't win.
This will be a very different race to the Worlds and Contador has not broken through for a classic win yet.

do anybody have a link to sporza livestream please? (if they are broadcasting)

They are; the official, geo-restricted stream went up 10 minutes ago on sporza.be. As I have access, I haven't looked for any mirrors, so I don't know if those are up yet.
