As of right now, I think Nibali actually might be the favorite. We all know Astana is super strong and Nibali has looked in fine shape recently and hasnt done much else than the Tour. He also might have the second best rider in the race on his own team which SHOULD be an advance.

As for Purito and Valverde, I think both are somewhat gassed and on a tougher course, I think it just comes down to who is climbing the best compared to who got the biggest kick over 1 kilometer. If Nibali should win a monument, its this race. My big outsider is Rui Costa and it would be cool to see a rematch of the 2013 Worlds.

Have to agree. How can you say never about a 23 year-old who's been in the peloton for under two years? Especially one who's already had some good results, including a San Sebastian win.

Then why did you say never? And San Sebastian wasn't a unique mistake. He was there in the front when GVA went down. He was totally in the mix.

Also Martin can win if he's on form. He is very good on these one day races actually. Yes, I know this course is harder than last years, but he can climb well. I'm not sure where he is form wise though.

My picks for the podium are Nibbes, Jrod, and Vuillermoz

Yeah Martin won easiest Lombardia parcours in last 10 years like gerans won MSR because of Cancellara and Nibali he is just simillar wheelsucker like him, he will do nothing up to 1km to go it can not happend again with parcours like this year
if you want to bet that he will not finish it with best 5 I am open to suggestions same as Yates, his only chance in this Lombardia is some mid day break

I don't think people are arguing with you trying to say Yates will win Lombardia this year. I think people's problem was with the single word NEVER.

Because he was the only rider able to follow those two on Poggio and because he was the fastest of the trio.
