Great course, great racing.

Exactly. I hope the course stays the same for many years.
Next year we'll get Bergamo once again, in 2017 it will be Como, they already signed a contract for those 2 years with those to cities, 2014 and 2014 we get Bergamo, 2015 and 2017 Como.

Actually Rai reported that Chaves had cramps.
Actually if somebody had their eyes open they could actually see that happening on their TV screen :D
He attacked and immediately cramped

Nibali's descent from the second last climb was breathtaking.
Yep, that was amazing. I would like to see Nibali vs Sagan on a descent :)

I wonder though why Nibali couldn't force a split in the descents at the Tour?

Rosa was extremely strong. Could he have won? We will never know :)

Many experts expects him to have a brilliant career, but you never know in cycling what's behind the next corner.

no he couldnt stay with moreno and pinot on final climb

But he did a lot more work before the final climb. If he had been a protected rider, he would have been the strongest rider uphill imo.

Maybe the level of fatigue plays a role. It's hard to tell.
Riders usually use the upper slopes of a descent to catch a breath.

They are coming from the Worlds, where they were 2nd tier favorites. The reason the 1st tier favorites don't show up is because they wouldn't stand a chance in hell in this race.

You're talking about Lombardia? Which 1st tier favorites are not here? Purito and ....... ?
Talking about Worlds. 1st tier favorites were Kristoff, Sagan, Matthews etc.

Maybe in Tour de France there was no point to attack like this, he was far behind Froome when they came to alps and only stage which really ended with descent (to Gap) Nibali used well enough

Certainly.
A real shame he found himself so far behind immediately after the entrance to the Pyrenees.

Moreno worked and chased down attacks for Valverde even though he was by far the strongest?

I guess he is going to Movistar next year.

Moreno wasnt working for valverde, its just that everybody knows you cant trust on valverde for closing the gaps. He was feeling great legs and he didnt want to leave the race go.

It seemed that most of the technical descents at the Tour were pretty bumpy and uneven and therefore pretty dangerous. Also, it's one thing to push the pace in a one day race and crash out, but something quite different to crash during a GT

Plus, he definitely tries his luck less now he's a father and whatnot.

I don't get it either. He will have more chances and free roles with Katusha than he will ever get in Movistar. Could at least have choosen another team such as Lampre or IAM. After Purito and Valverde, he is the most explosive climber in the peloton.

I think he regrets his choice now after today's 2nd place.

I think he just paced himself, not necessarily Valv. Lets remember the gradients of the 2 last climbs were varying between 7-12% and sitting on the wheel really isnt that profitable, he simply just went as hard as he could on that last climb and tried to keep it together at the first one without digging too deep.

I'd say the opposite, use this course every once in a while but have a slightly easier course in most years. With such a hard course, there are only a few possible winners.

That's the same as saying that they should have less cobbles in Paris-Roubaix, so that there will be more possible winners..

With this hard course we saw great cycling today. I think we all agree that this race was much better than last years course.

Yeah, we don't really need a easier course for the climbers' classic. Unless people really want Gerrans to take his third monument.

Civiglo-San Fermo is on hell of a finale with Muro and Ghisallo further out. I see no reason not to use this again!

pinot in third... this tell you everything

Can you elaborate?

Pinot did a great race, hopefully he'll get a little bit more respect on this forum. He lacked the juice in the final 5K, but at least he tried. He attacked, responded to attacks, he was very strong. Hats off to Nibbles. Great win for him.

He's just being ridiculous in all his comments. Pinot rode a great race and on his best days is part of the better climbers in the pack.
