good top 10, but Moreno could probably have won the race, if J-Rod had crashed.

And the racing, well 12km was all we got plus of course Voeckler.

I have nothing against Purito but its a fact that the race has become crap ever since they changed the course.

Agree with this. Great to see Purito win. But overall it wasn't that exciting a race. Would really like it if they changed the course instead of keeping it like it is.

Re. Fleche Wallone, I believe the joke is that this route make the race basically a fleche wallone with a descent. Riders wait until the last moment and then the winning move goes away on the steep part of the last climb,

Anybody knows if Valverder is going to ride in China? He still can beat Purito in World Tour

Yes. I shudder to think how many more people would have been there at the foot of the last climb with better weather

It would be total horror. They should change the route again or just cancel this race in total. What a complete and utter joke this beautiful race has become.

They work so hard to "fix" the route of Milan-San Remo, but they are quite happy with this outcome

I don't like the changing routes at all. :( . Why change routes of races that everybody love, because of the route that exists?

If you add a brutal climb like the Muro di Sormano, and it has virtually no impact on the race, you know you've created a crap course.

They're are to many flat k between the Ghisallo and Vergano, so a favorite is not going to decided to attack on the Ghisallo, unless you want to commit suicide.

That is why the course is utter crap, it wasn't like this pre 2011.

2010 was an awesome editions, 2009 was pretty good, 2008 was also great with Cunego soloing from the descent of the second to last climb.

Also on all those editions the attack started from much further than 12k. . .

2011 was pretty good imo. But I agree that the race gets exciting too late. nothing happens until the last climb

2011 was okish because instead of Voeckler we had Nibali at the front and since the the course was still new to everyone some of the top contenders (Nibali, Gilbert, Fugslang, Visconti and few others) actually went for it sooner than they would if they knew what was laying ahead, which were flat roads . . . .

This course is less of a travesty than the new Vlaanderen course, but still, we need the old one back. Maybe if they go back to finishing in Como and do Ghisallo - Sormano then the final small climb from that route. Otherwise maybe not even bother with this final climb and just do Sormano then Madonna del Ghisallo and descend into Lecco to finish. That would put the summit of Ghisallo between 25 and 30 from the line though, and I fear that may lead to reduced sprints at the end.

Either way, there's too much space between Ghisallo and the final climb at the moment, which leads to it being a one climb race effectively at present. Like Flèche Wallonne with a descent.

Nice of J-Rod to return us to the back-to-back winner pattern though, after Bettini '05-'06, Cunego '07-'08 and Gilbert '09-'10.

Actually race was more exciting when it was 80 km to go then in the last climb :). Quitana killed half of the Peloton and then himself.

World Champion. Amazing how this jersey changes everything. Noboby would've cared for Rui two weeks ago. But you could see the photographers literally flying when he passed this morning:

Berto sprinting to the start. He was the last one to sign!

What a great race. Great profile. Great winner. A lot of suspense who would finally clinch this one. A true tribute to cycling. I really enjoyed this one. Who would have guessed that little Spaniard would win this one. I bet the bookies are in a lot of trouble now, how on earth will they be able to pay out those 22 to 1 odds for this surprise winner? Joaquim who?

Great way to spend ones sunday. Good thing Formula One this morning was as exiting as this one.

Boooooooring.
