Teams & Riders Ilan Van Wilder - Pale Rider

I would love to see Ilan and Fausto running amok in the giro, fuasto in the attack with his grimace and Ilan calm and playing the countersweeper behind. They will be unstoppable.

Then in le tour Remco and Mikel doing the same, showing the heart and the passion, making visma lend a bike have doubts.

Even in the classics, Asgrene and Alapgilipeps both have a contract year and were getting better at the end of 2023. Maybe wolfpack can even come back to their best.

For le tour they can probably have a team of:

Remco
Landa
Hirt
Cattaneo
Alaphilippe
Lampaert
Asgreen
Vervaeke

Next season Ilan Van Wilder will make the combination of riding for himself as in a supporting role for Evenepoel. This has been confirmed for now, he might ride a bit more between Catalunya and Romandie, but we don't know that yet.

The Mallorca races (20-28 jan) Leader
UAE Tour (19-25 feb) Leader
Paris-Nice (3-10 mar) Domestique
Volta Ciclista a Catalunya (18-24 mar) Leader

Tour de Romandie (23-28 apr) Leader

Tour de France (29 jun – 21 jul) Domestique

He should be doing some classics and I wish him and fausto got to ride the Giro as leaders. In Catalunya he will be together with Landa. Nice programme

Would love to see that too. Last year in Tre Valli Varesine he showed that he's able to win 1-day races. He was also key to Remco's Liege team last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if he rides all Ardennes classics, but he'll have to be a domestique there.

Linda and McNada will be working for him in a few races this year.
But there is one big race missing from that list, compared to the scribbled list i was shown.

Gives the media some agro and puts the boot in - ouch! The Tour makes him testy!

Van Wilder thinks that the Tour team of Soudal - Quick-Step has received too much unnecessary criticism from media, experts and fans in the months leading in the Grande Boucle. "I'm going to take a moment to express my disappointment to the media," he begins in conversation with Het Nieuwsblad. "There is always commentary on the team and that is not nice to hear."
"I’ll say it like it is: we really feel like *** sometimes," the 24-year-old Van Wilder doesn’t mince his words. "People forget that we’re young and that for many it’s the first Tour."

Yesterday, we have witnessed the collective strength of UAE Team Emirates in its (nearly) full extent, with Tadej Pogacar's team pacing up most of the Galibier while still keeping three riders in the front group. Van Wilder is well aware that is something Wolfpack can't ever really match. "Sorry, but teams like UAE Team Emirates. They are not domestiques, but all leaders who ride for at least two million euros. That says it all. I always hear the same thing: they are not going to do it with those guys. They do not have the team for it. I am a bit fed up with it."

Considering people were claiming he was in bad shape, based on his Dauphiné performance, this was a pretty decent TT for him. Personally i think he can still do better, but this must have been nice for him. He beat Ayuso, Van Aert, both Yateses, Armirail, Gee, Rodriguez... and wasn't too far off Vlasov, Healy, Jorgenson etc (imho guys he should be able to rival with in TT's).
