Kristof took a long break, speculation that he stopped somewhere too cold, couldn't get a good sleep and when he finally fell asleep he overslept when the sun came up. It's very possible, but he's now within a no-sleep ride of Sydney and I'm not sure Mike is. This is getting very exciting!

I don't think Sarah will Catch Kristof if he doesn't sleep again, but I think she has a chance to overhaul Mike although it would take a huge effort.

It actually looks like Mike has stopped at Towong for a bit as Kristoff is nearly 20km in front according to the tracker.

Sarah had them pegged at around 120-150km gap for a long time but it is edging out to nearly 300km now, She said at some point that she hopes Mike and Kristoff kill each other and she can just ride past them!

Sounds like Kristoff had a rest and a bit of a feed when Mike went past. He may well be a little better rested and fueled up now for the "sprint" to the finish. Perhaps it was a tactical rest break on his part, Mike may still need to take a break.

Wonder if Mike just decided to take a rest a bit off-course just now. He took a different road from the race track heh.

Yep; MikeT. Looks like Mike found a little clearing just 3km off course to take another break (probably a better spot than underneath a tree on a street in Towong), while Kristof might've taken a break on a parking bay next to the Tooma dam before carrying on to pretty much the top of that first climb (where he seems to have finally stopped). So Kristoff is on about two or three hours less sleep but lies three or four hours (~55km and 1300vm) further ahead.

P.S. So he did that first climb in about 2:50, which is less than 55min from the KOM and works out to about 2W/Kg according to VAM, but I'm guessing the actual number would be pretty close 3W/Kg given the irregularity of the climb (including several descents), other attempts with measured power numbers on Strava and the fact that he's going in loaded. Not bad for a 1AM start. After 14 hours in the saddle with minimal breaks. After banging out around 4,400 km in the previous 12 days. Also, he seems to have taken another very quick break and kept going. #beast

looks like he actually took a longer tactical nap (in the mountains with no sleeping gear, allegedly 7 deg. celsius) so that he can hammer it down to the finish uninterrupted - and during that time was briefly overtaken by Mike... now back in the lead (rumors suggest he was woken/alerted by a fan riding along to see them)

Kristof is 120km ahead of Mike now! I thought once they caught each other it would be a real game of cat and mouse trading the lead. Didn't expect it to blow out like that again. Mike obviously needed the rest, all tactics (and necessary) I guess.

i think Mike may have gone a bit deep yesterday catching Kristof. He looked to be in a world of hurt this morning and is now about 180km behind.

I would guess Kristof won't stop again, it'll take something unfortunate happening for Mike to catch him now. The race for third is hotting up though, Kai has made headway on Sarah and she's just about to hit the climb. Kim and Adam are hot on Kai's wheel too.

Adam and David are still fighting it out to be the first Aussie back. This is going to stay exciting for a good while yet!

Yeah looks like Kristof is clear now. It was pretty exciting to follow the race between Mike and Kristof. I'm completely unfamiliar with this type of racing, but this really is impressive and the tracker provides a nice way to follow this racing. :)

It's awesome, can't wait to follow my mates on the TCR :) This is my kind of riding, I just don't have the time to do it :(
