I think with Contador in A. Schleck will feel the need to attack and we will have a Madeleine type stage (or 2) from 2009. Without him and we have a redux of 2010 more or less. I guess Basso should fit in there if he goes or Levi or Horner etc.

This is based on the posts made untill (and including) Gooner:

Points are given like this:

1st place = 10 points
2nd place = 9 points
..
11th place and not listed = 0 points

Obviously best possible overall score is 10.

1. Evans = 8.50
2. Contador = 7.76
3. Andy = 5.68
4. Wiggins = 5.50
5. Sanchez = 4.89
6. Menchov = 4.55
7. Nibali = 3.10
8. Van Den Broeck = 2.00
9. Fränk = 1.95

He could never really mix it with the heads of state this year though. Uran actually looked much better, until the Galibier.

I forgot Talansky, for the white jersey. But I don't think he has that three week ability yet.
Uran will be sacrificed for Sky, no doubt about that. So he's out of discussion unless both Froome and Wiggins crash out.

Not much faith in Voeckler or Rolland, eh?

Well the inclusion of Pinot is just a bit of a dream on my part. I was excited by his performances last season and he seems to me, more than anyone that I've seen in a quite awhile, to be the real thing for France's hopes in stage racing. He's not likely to make the top ten but hey, it would make for drama especially if he could conjure up a stage win in the process too.

It was just a roundabout way of saying that I didn't think Taaramae was all that impressive... not the towering favourite for the white jersey, as you would have it.

My top 10;
1. Cadel/ Contador
2. Contador/ Cadel
3. Wiggins/ Menchov
4. Menchov/ Wiggins
5. Andy Shleck
6. Levi Leipheimer
7. Samu
8. Frank Shleck
9. Brajkovic
10. It could include anyone from : JVDB, Gesink, Froome, Danielson,

Menchov... much lower
Levi... non-existent
Samu... higher
shortened #10 spot

Contador for the win is the only confident prediction I can give.

Andy won't be far away from the podium. Nor Evans.

Wouldn't be surprised if Valverde makes top ten or Frank the elder.

Surpised nobody at all has suggested De Weert. Also think Taaramae is progessing nicely and should top ten but not sure how high.

Wiggins and Froome could also be dark horses next year but I doubt they will be allowed to TT uphill like they did in Spain.

And Gesink can time trial nicely as well as climb better than most, same with Sammy.

The route also favours Danielson, so maybe at last he can shine.

Menchov is not at all favoured by the bookies but he will also surely top ten.

And there is the Italian boys, Nibs and Cunego who will lose out in the ITTs but will be there or there about on the MTFs.

And the French boys. Not Voeckler but Rolland and Peraud who can both TT a bit as well as climb.

Not forgetting the German boys of Martin and Klodi. Both are top TTrs but can Martin finally hang in there consistently on the climbs and will Klodi be the sacrificial lamb for the Schlecks?

JVDB and Brajkovic and Cobo also can't be ignored in this discussion.

Apologies if I've missed anyone;)

Contador
Evans
Schleck
Gesink
Rolland

After reading some peoples predictions I seriously doubt they have actually seen the TDF route for 2012.

Thing is, some suspect the climbers to really give it a go in the mountains. Similar routes have seen fireworks before. But skeptism is probably fitting.

Anyway I have no idea in regards to a top 10 at this point.

1 Contador (if he rides)
2 Menchov
3 Evans
4 Andy Schleck (if he doesn't do Giro)
5 Wiggins
6 Samuel Sanchez
7 Brajkovic
8 Velits
9 Frank Schleck
10 JVDB

(If Contador doesn't ride move everyone up and add kloden to 10th)
(If Andy does Giro move everyone up 1 slot who is behind him and add kloden to 10th)

Smoking something? Check out the course ... if there is someone who TTs much worse than Andy, it is VdB. Much, much worse. This scenario will work out if "clinic" and if lots of other folks crash out.

No Samu over Menchov. Also do you think if Contador is there Evans will lose a lot of time on one mountain stage which is why you have Evans 5th ( with Contador ) but 3rd with no Contador?
Surprised no one is saying Voeckler, Kern or Rolland. I like the Valverde pick he shall also be in contention for a top 10.

Green Jersey- Goss, KOM- Martin, White- Kruijswijk or TJVG or Taaramae.
