Stage 2 reminder.

Stage will kick off at 11:00 local (CEST) and finish around 15:00.

Wheelsucking is very much in play on Kitzbüheler Horn, but it will not help much. Too steep.

I'm calling on Dombrowski to do a solo ride from the bottom of the climb.

Only an unexperienced rider will try to climb solo from bottom to top. That does not work at this climb.
There usually is a small break of the day with a few minutes remaining (2-3) at the bottom. Teams of the chasing favorites ride the first part (till the toll cabin) like a sprint and a handful of riders will remain and fight for the win till the top. If you go too deep too early, you won't survive within the leaders.

agree with this - had a chance to talk to B. Eisel for a couple of minutes.

There will be a break right outside of Innsbruck, the peloton will let them go as they "know" that they won't reach the Horn.

But there was another interesting statement:
Bernie thinks that Zoidl is going to podium in Vienna and today is going to be the toughest day for Zoidl, as much is expected - still he thinks that Zoidl is going to finish top 5 today.

interesting to hear from a rider from another team ;)

Hmm, wonder if something happened to Dombrowski. Nice double win for Seeldraeyers.

I've forgotten, wasn't he the one that wasn't happy they weren't selected for the Tour?

Another excellent result for Zoidl. A podium place seems like a real possibility now.

Saxo is on a roll: with Majka and Sorensen they can't put one of them in the top 20  And Sorensen was supposed to be ready for the Tour....

CAS has been ill during spring for a long time.
Lately also during Dauphine, which he left after stage one or two.
This was the reason he was not ready (and therefore not selected) for the Tour. ;)
Regarding Majka: As far as I know, the ToA is a first build-up race after his post-Giro break.

But you are right: if you think of TST, one could expect more.

Ok, after the Astana party on Kitzbüheler Horn we are moving on to stage 3:

With team sizes of 5 or 6 such a stage could put a leader's team under pressure, but Astana looks uber strong here, so probably little chance of movements in the top 20 or so.

Start time: Around 12:30 (CEST)

ETA: 15:30

Meersman FTW.

Stage in progress....

Well, noone wanted to race against the Astana led peloton today, so Ignatyev is out there alone after 42km with a gap of 4:45.

Edmüller is on a suicide mission somewhere between the front and the field.

Last climb of today coming up shortly.

Guess his (Chris Anker's) lack of form is the reason he isn't in France...
