I think this subject needs its very own thread. Carlos Sastre, Frank Schleck and CSC tactics + Cadel Evans bad luck.

The dutch mechanic on the team already told the story back in 2009.

Basically, on the Restefonde while everyone was at their limit, Sastre felt great and wanted to attack. He asked Riis, who said "ask Frank", since Frank was in yellow. So he asked Frank...

Frank said no, Sastre just followed wheels all day. Riis went up to Frank and yelled at him that if he wanted to win the Tour, "it has to hurt and it has to hurt NOW" and Frank replied that he couldn't do it. Frank's a damned nice guy, but he doesn't seem to have the mental fortitude required, sadly.
Then at the end of the Tour Andy complained that Sastre worked against Frank.

Personally, I lost all respect I had for Andy back in 2009 the moment he randomly quipped that Moncoutié "is *** in the head" apropos of absolutely nothing. If only he was a nice guy like his brother...

Have all been mentioned in a connection - this time an interview - to why Andy is criticised so much.

I'm sure Schlecks give the interview after see this thread:p

Being serious, they talk to a certain fan base whose knowledge of cycling is almost zero.

The three "girlies" are showing us where their brains are and the two beside 2Waldorf" must have isses if they want to stand beside him in the first place!!

Neither member of Team Frandy have the ability to come across as proper bike racers, I don't think they have it in them. They are waiting for uncle Johan to ensure that that nice man Prudhomme in Paris picks them a route that almost guarantees they can win.......problem is Berto is better than both of them. Personally I think they are a pair of circus clowns masquerading on bikes. Before either of them win anything they need to grow a pair (each) and learn a wee bit of respect.

Okay, was this meant as sarcastic or are you being serious? :p Because I do agree with it.

I am serious! I am myself a dedicated Contador fangirl, and I am classy as hell!

Yes, just like everything else about Contador, his fangirls are classier than the rest.

 this is just pathetic. Alberto fangirls love him and scream when they see him but they won't ask him to marry them. They're just too classy for that.

Maybe. If the whole story of that race and the team's subsequent mass exodus (including Cancellara) ever comes to light, it'll probably be one of the most fascinating (and maybe sleazy) ever from pro cycling.

Interesting info. But what I am supposing is that Carlos won the Tour for Riis (and himself, of course) and this apparently alienated the two Schreck brothers; Riis then, feeling that Andy was the future, may have somehow over-compensated in their direction, thus alienating his Tour champion, who subsequently left. Then the Schrecks, still feeling slighted, stabbed Riis in the back by planning their departure and taking much of the team in the bargain. The Cancellara departure is interesting because he really was Riis's key asset (other than Contador, of course) and Riis absolutely did not want to lose him. Yet in the end he relented, possibly indicating that Cancellara made him an offer he couldn't refuse - who knows?

But it's all supposition, as far as I know.

Should I ever wish to marry a bikerider, any bikerider, I certainly would not display the proposal across my fat rolls. I just wasn't brought up that way. :D

I hope they are coming to our CN meet up at the Tour.

We should split up into groups of those who like Contador and those who don't.

Interesting!! The version that I've heard was that the three of them(Riis, Satre & Frank) had a meeting before the Alpe d'Huez stage in which Carlos was very upset & literally "demanded" Riis to remain Frank that he(Sastre) was the Protected/designated Leader from the very beginning & therefore he should be the first option to attempt yellow in the Alpe, and if he'd failed, then Frank could go afterwards......
