Since it's a civil matter, it's only about money, so that's no surprise. Settlement lets the party claim "no admission of guilt", and both sides save the expense of a trial. The only complication is that there appear to be a lot of named defendants, and it might not be easy to get them all to agree to a settlement.

Yeah, our clients were large corporations, not individuals. I keep wondering how they are going to serve Bruyneel. Looked at his Twitter and he lives in London. I'm not in litigation anymore, but back in the day foreign service was always such a lenghty process.

I saw that he's visiting London, but I imagine he still lives in Spain. But Bonnie Ford's article said they were all notified last week, and the New York Daily News said

The complaint was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. Details of the lawsuit remain under seal, but a person with knowledge of the case said defendants were recently notified of it by the Justice Department.

I wouldn't think they'd send advance notice to a defendant in a sealed lawsuit, so I imagine they were already served. Tracking them all down would have been interesting, as would the timing.

Links are in the sticky thread.

The Hog had plans of building a training center in the US. This will preclude him from entering the country for a long time.

Notice isnt really service of process. Without getting into boring legal stuff, they probably received notice of the lawsuit and request that they waive service of the summons. The US defendants were/will be probably served via their attys.

This is depressing, I deal with legal garbage all day at work, now it has invaded my fun cycling world.

The thing is, thehog, this would have to go to a jury trial.

In California.

Where the likes of me and flicker populate the jury pool.

Don't think for one moment that a GUILTY verdict would happen.
Hung Jury at worst, Not Guilty at best.

You will be fished out of that jury pool, which if you are correct in saying is populated by the likes of you and Flicker obviously has too much chlorine in it.

Heading there Thursday, will let you know if I see him. :p

My old home town. If you want some pub recommendations PM me.

You'll know when you see the Hog. You'll be talking a stroll through Covent Garden and next to a guy busking for change will be a guy selling 2009 Trek Madones

I am heading there Saturday. For some reason I don't think he would be too happy to see me. Last time I ran into him I said "Enjoy your time in jail"....he did not find it funny.

Thanks. I blocked him on twitter ages ago, and try to avoid stories about him, so I didn't know. Does the UK extradite to the United States?

Kudos on the enjoy your time in jail thing.

yes, at a stage start at the Tour

So, how long were you stalking the RadioShack Team Bus before you had the chance to heckle Johan?

And all you received was a dirty look?

Dimspace was flipped-off which was very cool.

Wow. Getting your 15 minutes of fame being insulted and insulting Buyneel and twittering Lance. You guys are heros.

When a British hacker went into Pentagon computers that were basically wide open for anyone to walk in (like terrorist, should to actually exist). Got caught. Extradiction was requested, and nearly granted. It took a lot of media attention and discovery of a form of autism with the defendant to prevent it.
Yes, they will extradite, especially a Belgian drug baron :)

Johann was the stalker that day. He may have wanted to talk some of the many attractive ladies that seem to be always close by my side. He must be losing his interest in the carnival fun ride that is Eva Maria.....what was the name of Floyd's 2nd book again?
