Is Philippe Gilbert Doping?

As a big Gilbert fan i'm really pleased he's re-united with his old doc and winning in style !

Needless to say i like the dopers who ride with panache like Contador, Gilbert & Nibali than the conservative wheel sucking dopers like Team Sky and Leipheimer/Menchov of yesteryear.

Between PhilGil and Bala, the arms race is indeed getting interesting.
The Ardennes classics should be interesting, provided PhilGil and Bala retain their current form.

Edit: Wait, is Valverde riding the Ardennes?

I don't see it on his main race calendar, so I'm not sure. I just assumed he would based on past participation and success, so we'll have to wait and see.

I made that same assumption, but when I make assumptions I'm usually wrong... :D

The only question remains: what was he doing in between? (apart from monetizing his wonder year)

Different doctors different methods.

Also maybe he was laying of the Corticosteroids to give his body a respite.

This.
I always thought his body just shut down after all the corticosteroids he must have took and needed a break.

I figured he was worried about an Icarus scenario and flying too high on the doping control radar. A team and doctor change probably didn't help with continued reasonible results. But who knows what happened after his golden year, maybe different team goals or an adjusted programme threw things off. He is an enjoyable rider to watch I will say.

"It is a different team, different culture, different country."

There is a loaded quote that is standard in cycling and other sports.

Different team = Different Medical staff and methods

Different culture = Different relationship with UCI/ASO

Different country = BS, he still lives in Monaco last I heard!!!! (unless he uses a Monaco address to avoid taxes, see Davide Rebellin, Cipo etc)

Some of these riders are better off keeping their gobs shut.

So putting the bike overhead is now the official way to switch the motor off
