Reports of my demise are greatly exagerated.

Several teams would fall over themselves to pick up a top rider like Pozzato.

I know he'll easily find a new team. We're just freed from him for the entire season.

I bet Paolo Bettini won't even pick him for the Worlds. Perhaps one day he'll come to his senses and realize how he won the only Monument in his career. By being a domestique for a leader. Perhaps he should be put to work for a Belgian team again, at least he doesn't make them lose then and looking at the amount of Monuments were won by domestiques over the years it wouldn't even be dumb.

No big team besides Lampre will make him leader though.

Tchmil is a hard man he was a tough rider him self and expects the same from his men. Pozzato is a show poney and has no place in Tchmil,s team for 3 weeks on Tour unless he is preforming 100%.

Then maybe he wants out of the team who knows maybe he is doing the TDF instead of the Giro but for an italian showman like Pozzato the Giro is his home show .

It would be great to see his *** get kicked at the Tour though. Some finishes there where his *** definitely will get kicked.

Yeah, definitely agree with that one. He will, however, have to accept a lower pay deal than he is on now. I bet Katusha paid him a good sum with the budget they had with the idea he'd pay them back with classics victories. Tchmil obviously feels short changed by one of his big purchases.

Lefevere said Boonen would have to take a pay cut if he didn't start to deliver soon. Riders can only live on past victories for so long; especially when they reach their thirties.

Quick-Step was already doing this at Paris Roubaix.

Is Lampre a big team? I don't think so!

Good guesses would also be Sky or QS who both had a fatal classic season.

How is Sky a big team when Lampre is not?

That's a point. But Sky is at least a big team on paper and Lampre better should fold cause of their discredit.

I am sure, that Sky is also very disappointed with their spring. ;)

maybe he'll end up at one of those who's bidding to form new pro teams, like greenedge or either one of the two rumored teams courtesy of the split up of omega pharma and lotto

I don't see how Sky would benefit from signing Pozzato. They have a heap of quality cobbles guys who don't win already. Lampre seems an OK fit. Actually, Leopard would be great, because they'd have another option in the finale of the classics when everyone handcuffs themself to Canc. Take the pressure off, too.

I remember when Pozzato first signed for Katusha he said he didn't want to go to Lampre because they were too weak of a classics team.

No way Lampre signs him, but who knows with the problems they may have coming in the future.

I hope that Pippo has to settle for a smaller continental team like Acqua & Sapone. Maybe then he'll remember how to fight for wins, instead of taking what he can get at a powerhouse team.

Pozzato isn't in his thirties.

And he's already chalked up wins in Milan-San Remo, Cyclassics Hamburg, E3, Het Volk, Tirreno-Adriatico (including GC), National Champs, Giro & Tour stages, Trofeo Laigueglia (twice), plus other Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix podiums.

Yeah, clearly the tough-talkers on cycling forums are right. Pippo isn't tough enough to be a bike rider. And he's definitely not a winner. No team should want him for anything. Why does he even bother riding a bike?

Why don't we just go ahead and merge this with all of the annual pre-Classics threads where people sit around and bs about how Pippo is too pretty to ride the Classics?

Dont think he would fit in with Brailsfords Age v Potential v Salary v Experience formula.

BMC wouldnt be a bad bet for him

But, this is all being blown a bit out of proportion. Katusha want to take an all round team to the giro capable of challenging for stages so Pozzato stays at home. Think talk of his career being over is being dramatically premature.

Don't forget about Paolini guys

Also, first I've read about a GreenEdge connection..

I think "green edge" is the standard phrase this season for unimaginative journalists
