I bet Steegmans would feel like a total idiot if they disband next year.

Well, it kind of seemed even when they were forming the team that it was where guys went to commit career suicide. Seriously, other than Brajkovic, Machado and Sebastien Roessler, who is going to have a career after next year?

Hermans definitely. Probably Rovny as well.

I think the real young guys like Impey, Bewley, Busche and Selander could all still have very productive careers.

Workmen like Muravyev, Lequatre, Rast and Paulinho will all still be working for other teams for a few more years. Popo will have to take a pay cut, but someone will give him a job as well.

No idea about guys like Steegmans, Vaitkus, Beppu and Irizar.

What are possible worse case scenarios?

Were Lance to get indicted and go down, so all the sponsors pull the plug,
would the UCI team funding guarantees allow for the team to continue, sans label, for the remainder of the season?
Or would the squad all be on skid row?

How does JB's 4 year licence stand, come 2012, given the UCI's new points system and the probability that he has no team, therefore no scoring riders?
Surely it's not worth the paper it is written on, given these conditions.

Vaitkus is back with Astana for 2011 and Beppu is gone, too.

I hope they survive and Lance stays involved in cycling/the team. I hope he shows up once in a while but not in the car. Just so US media still broadcast cycling and the worlds stays involved. This way he can make up for all the years he lacked responsibily when he was still an active rider.
An American team with ****loads of money can be formed just because of his name. The Trek-team, all just because Lance is involved. I hope, even if there is a conviction, he'll tries to help at least the U23 guys.

Kwiatkowski has a career beyond 2011. Unzué loves him, so unless he has a shocker of a year I'd expect Movistar to at least try to get him when his contract ends or when Shack implode. The Portuguese can always find a ride back in their homeland, though the level will be lower.

The 4-year PT licence at the expense of other teams was a masterstroke by the UCI. How did Radioshack ever show they had funding for 4 years?

They probably spend more this year than some teams spend in 4 years.

Thanks kurt, I knew there were other decent talents there but couldn't remember off the top of my head, so I figured a broad generalization about the team might bring out someone who knew in more detail. Yipes, I wonder who will give Popo a job now that he's been a non-presence at 2 teams and has had his house raided by the Italian police?

the more that i think about it, the more I think that Rasmussen would be perfect for RS. Although Rasmussen would like a long term deal, he really just needs to get his foot in the door and prove to the other squads that he can compete at the grand tours. Let him ride for RS for a year with the hopes that another team will pick him up when the fat lady sings.

back to RS....
i think that even if the indictments happen tomorrow, i'm guessing that Bruyneel can play some legal trickery and delay everything until after the RS deal runs out.

on a side quation...are PT licenses transferable? If RS disbands can Bruyneel jump to another squad and take the license with him? (Like when Discovery ran out and they took over Astana)

Are you serious about that?
I suppose you only look at his results of the past 2 years, because otherwise you won't say such idiot stuff...
And if u know something about cycling, u must know that EVERY team want someone like Popo in his team...

With Steegmans now leaving and the sponsor only providing support for one more year I have no idea how this team kept its ProTour status....I'm still amazed they were even granted ProTour status.

I get the feeling 2011 will be an even worse year results wise.

I wonder if the Hog will continue sue race organisers to force them to invite the team.

I wonder if Armstrong even gives a sh!t?

I wonder what Klöden and Levi will do after next year if Radioshack disbands.

Will they retire? Follow Bruyneel to whatever team he goes to? Go to a ProConti team and milk it for what it's worth like Evans and Sastre?

I'd personally like to see Klöden as a super-domestique for one of the younger guys like Andy or Nibali

(PS: just kidding about the Evans and Sastre thing)

Looking that their roster for next season, can they even cobbled together a cobbles team?
They look bereft of classics men. Lucky they have a guaranteed invite to all these races, as I wouldn't have thought the race organisers would want these Shack leftovers.

Since Steegmans didn't ride last year because of injury they are only losing a couple of their cobbled riders Beppu and Vaitkus. The "cobbled riders" that are left aren't that impressive though. They didn't get to ride all the non-PT cobbles last year so perhaps they will get to ride even fewer next year with only the guaranteed ones safe.

Hog has already announced he's not doing team car duties in 2011.

Levi is just going to race domestics and win something for once.

Both BMC's and radioshack's training camps are either in or near Calpe. Wouldn't be funny if radioshack with bruyneel bumped into Phinney riding with his BMC team.
