Uh, see Horner's passport release for example. Testing for the passport is done during races as well

http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/W...endent-Observer/WADA_IO_Report_TDF2010_EN.pdf

Of course they test. But at the discretion of the testing bodies and independent of race testing for substances. If not racing there's not a great reason to dope to perform. So there not losing much in terms or data. Training solid for 18 months a baseline will be fairly much worked out for that period alone.

I'd also say Horner is a special case. There's good reason they tested over and above the norm.

Horner showed the middle finger to whatever the body is who oversees the passport, by releasing his data. While it's obvious that the data shows blood manipulation, according to whatever rules apply to the passport everything is within limits so f*** off. There was one thing he forgot though, he has no contract and teams might understand the values differently than UCI.

Anyone who thinks the BP does anything needs to read your concise post.

Horner's right, he's "cleans".

If the teams are scared of him, and the UCI says he's okay, then that can only lead to one conclusion.

The UCI still doesn't have a clue, and it's still as dirty as ever.

Lovely...

In this vein, I'm actually liking Horner more and more.

He knows the game, plays it perfectly, has 'never tested positive', and is now throwing it back in the face of the UCI.

He's the sort of guy, who may now give zero f*cks, and discredit the bio pass altogether.

He's passed all the benchmarks, never been popped, and even gone through years of the biopass with nothing hindering his geriatric climb to awesomeness.

Stick your thumb in their eye, Poppa!

I am agreeing with you here. I have new respect, well really the first respect ever for Horner.
He just played the whole system, knowing he was never going to get another payday anyway, and shoved it into both of UCI's faces. As counterfeit as Horners blood values are , they look squeeky clean compared to the thievery going on in UCI.

So lets see bald intelligent guys in cycling: Riis, Brailsford and now Honer.

In the end the boy with minimal return will be Horner. Too late to the party.

Or just when you think passport has reduced doping you have the "Horner paradox".

Then you realise its not actually a paradox but the norm

To be fair: We all know that Horner dopes big time and old school, but that doesn´t mean that others follow his path. I mean there are not many 40+ year olds with a dodgy passport like him that even scares DSes of signing him...

If everybody would dope like Horner, there was no 42 year old winning the Vuelta. Grandpa would have finished somewhere around 30th. OTOH, if you are one of the few mega dopers you can even win a GT as an old man...

So you guys like it that the passport isn´t working and that a old man gave "advice" to the younger generation....
I guess you also loved the way LA beat the system. There is no other way to understand your cynical posts...

Just wonder why everybody still hits out on LA when he was such a great master of the game....

Horner's time up Angliru was the fastest ever cept one of Heras's. Forget top 30 Horner with his 2013 Vuelta performance would probably finish top 3 on any gt from the full epo era. I say top 3 on every gt since Indurain except the 2009 and 2012 TDFs

the only sad element to the tale, Horner might just be the most intelligent directeur sportif, and he has lost his opportunity to ply his craft

think the premise included everyone on this new program. There are new gear, and no one in an era in the 70s and before, was riding as a pro when they could not manage their own hormone levels. But if everyone, and even 18 and 19 wunderkinds, were given the same gear, (remember andy Shleck coming 2nd in the Giro at 22), then they mate out Chris H back twenty pegs or so.

Walsh's article on how the JTL/Roger's cases will be damaging to Sky's reputation had potential to be decent (though clearly only attempting to soften his landing when the fall of some of Sky's big names happen) until this part;

(on Brailsford/Sky)

"This is hardly the offer of a man with something to hide, and it opens the way for anti-doping authorities to increase their surveilance of at least one team in the professional peloton."

He has said they can follow them for a year because most of the doping happends OOC. Also he knows they are not likely to take him up on the offer.

Shooting the messengers! The fans didn't create the sport. The sport created the cynicism.

Kimmage supposedly told Walsh to not report from the inside with Sky before he did so.

Does that mean Kimmage is on the list of bitter anti sky haters along with Stokes and Keys?
