They call it "Giro della Toscana" but actually it's the "Giro della Provincia di Pisa", it's a shame with the very wide range of terrain we have here.
Giving that the organizer is the same of Coppa Sabatini i fear also for the future we can't expect something different.

Guess they'll lineup those guys for Milano-Torino and Lombardia as well.

With more than 20 Km to go Nibali, Bernal and Backaert attacked, Cummings bridged and the four went all the way. Cummings won the sprint. Fifth Colbrelli sprint from the chasing group some 30 sec. back. Nice to hear Nibs is back to his aggressive classics mode.

So he was perfectly fit to ride, the "costola incrinata" was only an excuse to skip the WC (where probably he would have been also the second pick for TT).

But there is no doubts that the course in Bergen did not suit him at all.
It would have been pointless to have him in the team.

Stage 2 tomorrow is gonna be interesting, with the finish up to Volterra.

Why pointless? He could have worked for the team on the climbs or attacked before the last lap. The circuit wasn't a worse fit than Richmond.

Not even "Giro della Provincia di Pisa", but more like "Giro della Valdera"! :lol:

Anyway, the terrain is very interesting tomorrow with a lot of "mangia e bevi" (ups and downs) that are not even charted. Overall this Giro della Toscana looks a lot like the first stages of Tirreno-Adriatico

No problem I think. The main objective is the Giro di Lombardia and the last 3 winners of the race (Martin, Nibali, Chaves) doesn't rode Milano-Torino.

The race is only 2 days before Lombardia. Could be too close for some riders.
