Strong performance from Valter, and Vingegaard finished it off, but it looked like he should have started his attack a little later.

Higuita will have to go crazy in the next days.

Bike leaning against the barriers cut off Higuita and caused he and others to stop. What was it even doing there?

Edit: apparently it was a Shimano neutral service bike. Why would you place one of those on a 20% grade a couple hundred meters from the finish?

If ever there was a well timed attack, it was this one, since otherwise he probably wouldn't have beaten the stronger rider on the day, Mikel Landa.

He was definitely the fastest, but I still think Vingegaard lost speed at the end because he started too early.

lol wtf was that shimano dude doing there :)))

I don't know, but it looks like he was without fault.

I agree, if Landa would not have been too far back when Vingo took the front, he may well have overhauled the Dane.

Jumbo can and should just try to strangle this race from here on out. Nothing happening for GC on the next two stages would mean the only rider who can flip the GC on the final day in a sprint of the best climbers is Landa, who would have to finish at least second with Vingegaard at least two places down, which, let's be real, isn't happening. Someone had better have an ace up his sleeve, because this is definitely in danger of being the worst Itzulia in a very long time.

Vingegaard undoubtedly went too early and he suffered in the last 150 metres.
Sprinter: "I launch on flat road at 200m. If I go at 205m it's too early"

Vingegaard: "I launced at 300m on 20% the last 2 times, and it was too early. I'm gonna launch from 320 this time"

Can't really draw any conclusions from this, except that it reinforces the need to be at the front when things get sketchy. Which Vingo was.

Was it that Higuita was heading for the barriers but the neutral bike/service guy seemed to block his path and he swerved. Hard to say from the footage.

I would assume that the riders were told he would be there. Maybe to avoid a repeat of Froome running uphill in his cleats?
