He has a habit of doing this on hilly ITTs to take the hill slightly easier and then blast the descent.

It just tends to get lost because he's so naturally good at starting on a hill out of the gate that it seems like he's going full gas from the begining

Still remember that stage in the Tour where he absolutely crushed the descent to take the stage-win. Stage 19, in 2018, I believe.
