there's a chance, I think, but the gaps are normally too close to allow any strong guys to get a significant gap. And 2nd half of the stage is fairly easy.

Vingegaard said he doesn't rule out an attack today, though .

I hope he goes for it, there are riders that will (try to) follow, and work with you to the finish line. Otherwise we're in for a boring ride with a bunch sprint of 30 people

What I took from the interview is that it is very unlikely that he will attack today.

Either way, that climb looks very easy for the top guys. It is hard to imagine that there will be any gap

Very weak breakaway with zero consequential riders up the road. Even with 4 minutes they should be reeled in easily.

Breakaways on WT level are practically dead outside the GTs. We've had over 30 non-ITT stages this year in World Tour stage races and not a single breakaway victory, no wonder no one even bothers these days.

The average speeds are too high. A first hour ridden at 50 km per hour means for a break to go it needs to ride at 52-53 km per hour. Not likely.

I seem to remember Pogacar and Vingegaard winning multiple stages after breaking away from the peloton.

The route is lame, not the riders lazy. There will be a better chance of a break win tomorrow, and the GC favourites will stretch their legs too.

Apparently a bit of the yips with Hayter as many here suspected with his riding, they're working on his positioning and to be fair he seems a lot better today after being at the back of the split yesterday, he has the physiological profile to be very good.
