The main problem that emerges now is that Manuela Fundación has bought the company New Global Cycling Service from Shayne Bannan but not GreenEdge Cycling, which is the company owned by Gerry Ryan and which has the WorldTour license. The first, which has been acquired by the Andalusians, is a management company that works the contracts and everything related to the riders and staff, but does not have direct access to the license.
In the Manuela Team they recognize that they have sinned of certain inexperience. Never before have they faced an operation as important as the current one, that of buying one of the best teams in the world, and that is why they openly acknowledge that there may have been loose ends yet to be resolved. One of them was to buy a company that they thought possessed the WorldTour license, one of the most precious assets. The next is that there have been several interlocutors. The Spanish group is convinced that, by the time Mr. Huertas talks to Ryan, everything will be resolved.
"We think so. This Sunday we are all together and our goal is to move forward. We have a signed contract valid from June 5th but now what we want is to talk to Ryan to see how we can make the license issue concrete. This Monday morning we will talk to the ICU to find a way forward. The most important thing is that the team survives and that the riders have their future assured, so in the end we will come to an agreement," Garzelli said on Sunday. The Italian, who during the conversation was surrounded by Emilio Rodríguez, Manuel Calvente, José Manuel Moreno and Huertas himself, confirms that they have all the papers in order, that there is money and that soon the whole plan will be established.
Condemned to understand each other
The licence without a team is also useless, just as the team without a licence cannot take part in the Tour de France, say a race. That's why it's necessary to reach an agreement. It seems that the main problem lies in a palpable lack of communication between Shayne and Ryan, who have not conducted negotiations in parallel.
