I had NOT seen that. What the hell were Hockey Canada thinking??

I wonder how much of a kickback they are getting on those?

Time for a letter writing campaign on this one.

Hard to find email addresses, and I had two "Undeliverables".

Contact information can be found at: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/60788/la_id/1.htm

Here is a sample message:

Dear Hockey Canada,

I read with horror about the adoption of a Livestrong jersey for the National Women’s hockey team.

Since when does a Canadian National Team embrace the colors of a corporate sponsor?

That, however, is a minor point.

Lance Armstrong is widely held as the biggest fraud in sport, ever. Livestrong is his namesake. Lance profits directly from the Livestrong.com site, which is not even controlled by the Livestrong organization. Appearance fees for Lance to speak about Livestrong go directly to Lance, and are not, ever, redirected to the Livestrong charity. An IRS investigation was revealed last November.

By wearing this jersey you are soliciting business for Lance Armstrong, the biggest sport fraud himself.

Team Canada has set itself up for a major embarrassment and scandal.

And, as our National Team, you are embarrassing the entire country.

I can only encourage you to rethink your decision. With haste.

Dave.

Thanks,

Dinner now done, I will get to this next.

Curious, the comments I posted to their Facebook page have been removed, not by me, and it appears they have locked it for comment.

Back to the topic of this thread, Jessica may or may not have enjoyed performance enhancement.

If she has, she is in very good company. The women of Canada's National Sport have decided to embrace the biggest sports fraud ever.

http://blog.livestrong.org/2013/02/...nada-world-womens-hockey-championship-jersey/

Canada loves dopers so much, that the national sport has even thrown out its national colors and has completely sold out.

Dave.

Just another example of the commercialisation of cancer, and the exploitation of human generosity, hope and trust.

This doesn't bode well for the future.

It appears all the gestures by LIVESTRONG to distance themselves from fraud in sports were nothing more than token gestures to pull the wool over the publics eyes once more. This is is really poor taste. Maybe in a few years when the public know Armstrong has been kicked to the curb, but now?

Madness. WTF were the Canadians who came up with this thinking? How about some red and white with a maple leaf thrown in for good measure? But all yellow! The associated imagery is tainted. This was in really poor taste. I hope someone investigates this to see whose pockets were lined.

And after the last 8 months developments! Just wow. Someone deserves to be fired and humiliated over this. That's unforgivable.

Well done. Love of country is so huge here, and with that ALWAYS comes the red and white. To see it replaced by yellow and black is embarrassing, and I'm surprised that anyone with decision making power even entertained this idea for a national team.

W T F??

Yah I'll contact them as well, this is ridiculous. I mean seeing the pink uniforms in football and the commercialization of cancer there already makes me sick, but a national jersey? Come on.

It's a little funny, in a very in a tragic way, but I'm sure not funny at all from a Canadian perspective.

I think I'll send a letter to the South Australian government. They might want to move to Canada. Even Lance might want to move North soon. It seems there's still some love for him up there.

I hate it too, but only because of the Livestrong connection. It's for one game only, it's not the new national team jersey, and I can live with the occasional one-off change in support of good causes. Note that is good causes, not image-boosting societies for corrupt millionaires.

Remember this atrocity from a few years ago? Whoever dressed Lemieux in mustard should have been shot.

Or when our women were patronized with pink jerseys in their first Olympics?

Thread hijacked by a bunch of Canucks.

Even if they only wear this outrageous jersey for one game, the partnership is longer term. Still a good reason to write Hockey Canada, I did.

The jersey reveal kicks off a “Fight With Us” movement with Nike and Sport Chek to support the Canadian women’s team and the LIVESTRONG Foundation.

Agreed. The partnership with Livestrong sends the wrong message.

Exactly.

Causes are great. The National Team already has a cause, it's country.

Different jerseys are great for pro teams.

They diminish the importance of representing your country at the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

This is not a charity event.

Are they representing Canada? Or, are they representing Livestrong?

To adopt a specific promoter of cause, and one with a readily associated negative image, is even worse than trying to identify with a specific cause.

Everything, absolutely everything, is wrong with this decision.

Dave.

Even the name "Fight With Us" is the wrong message on so many levels.

First of all, it perpetuates the message that cancer can be beaten by "fighting", and if you don't fight hard enough (bring on the cheerleaders) you will suffer the consequences. This is BS and the wrong message to give to people dealing with the disease in their own way.

Then of course there is the fighting connotation with regards to the sport of hockey. This is a disease in itself, especially in mens hockey.

Here's the latest Canadian doping question: Why is it that so many of our Bobsleigh athletes are failing doping tests? Currently there are four serving suspensions (latest announced on Feb. 26th) Four suspensions out of a relatively small pool of athletes should be garnering some media attention, but not a word . . .

Currently serving time:
Jason Kerr: testosterone, boldenone, nandrolone and trenbolone
Rachelle Fleurant: Clenbuterol, Oxandrolone, Hydrochlorothiazide
Steve Molnar: Stanozolol, Cannabis, Methandienone, Oxymetholone
Derek Plug: SARM S-22

Not surprised, but disappointed.

All of the sudden we have been a world power.

Back in the day we used to complain that we could never compete without our own track. Now we have two.

I was hoping it wasn't the drugs. But, hope is lost.

With all due respect if the answer is yes, are you being serious?
serious about what?

normally gaining such excessive muscle mass would become a hindrance in a sport like pole vault, where agility and athletism is very important (in addition to strength of course).
how does one gain such muscle mass, without losing flexibility, agility and speed?
perhaps that's where PEDs come into play.

What really annoys me is when there is not one poster who can bring forward any evidence that Jessica is on the junk...posters who have thousands of posts notched on their belts - DQued, Peddling Squares, Moose, Benoit, Hugh etc.

What really annoys me are those who make blind and unsupportable assertions.

And here I was just supporting a post that was supporting your post.

Such broad and shallow criticism obviously runs the peril of demolishing its own credibility. It also undermines any support you might have amongst those you blindly criticize.

However, let's go with the benefit of the doubt.

Please note:

1. I am fallible
2. I am open to criticism
3. I often do not post a counter to the criticism, but let it stand by itself

Please note further:

I do not know everything. I learn that every day.

If you can, please accept: I know a lot more than I post.

Please also note my successful thread jack of this thread.

Are you sure you want to criticize me?

Dave.

Ok, you asked for it.

There isn't a chance in hell that she is dirty.

Look at that Canada jersey ferchrisakes.

Ryder is Canadian. He has never touched the hot sauce.

Michael Barry is clean. I think.

They are all clean.

Dave.

Edit to add: What's up with the injection bruise in her right thigh?

So DQ? Show me the redeeming value in this sarcastic comment? In spite of your assertions to the contrary, your skin is pretty thin. The negative priming about Ryder and the obvious mistake about Barry makes me think you don't know a lot about what you don't post.

And who gives a jack about your thread jack. And your comment "Are you sure you want to criticize me?" sounds like LA intimidation at its best

PS Where is your evidence on Zelinka or did you miss the whole point of this thread?

Yeah, really. He should have put up one of these links instead.

But not to worry, she is the most tested swimmer ever, and has passed hundreds of tests. She battled her way back from pregnancy (OK so not cancer, but close). She just works harder than everyone else..............

Maybe I know something you don't.

Then again, maybe I am full of it.

You choose.

Fair?

wrt to Barry, he lied. He wrote a book about it, and he lied. He was in position to win the World's in Hammertown, while doped.

Maybe I don't like that.

Fair?

On Jessica, what is your argument?

My history on this thread has arguably been in explicit violation of Forum rules about thread jacking. If I am guilty of anything, it is of trying to divert the subject of this thread.

There is only one post that I have made that is directly related to this. Turns out Jessica missed an OOC test. I added that.

In other words, you are going after the wrong person here.

History:

Post #5 - a diversion / thread jack inserting something about cycling
Post #9 - I did my research. She did miss an OOC test. Sorry. Then, another diversion.
Post #23 - unrelated to thread topic response to post about Tammy Thomas. Read: continuation of someone else's diversion.
Post #26 - flippant response to fanboy post. Unrelated to topic.
Post #64 - response to peripherally related post regarding weightlifting.
Post #72 - Post not directly related to topic.
Post #92 - Post not related to topic.
Post #94 - Post not related to topic.
Post #110 - Post related to topic in only the most generic sense.
Post #113 - Post unrelated to topic.
Post #121 - Post unrelated to topic.
Post #125 - complimentary post related to insightful comments by another poster, only vaguely related to topic.
Post #127 - Post unrelated to topic, re-introduces cycling vector.
Post #131 - Post unrelated to topic, continues cycling vector.
Post #144 - Post broadens topic, sets up for thread jack.
Post #163 - Post related to thread jack
Post #165 - Post unrelated to topic, echoes current comment(s) in other threads
Post #170 - response to RobbieCanuck on unfounded assertions.

Current post: Uncontestable proof of RobbieCanuck's unfounded assertions.

Fair?

Dave.
