They showed an interview with him, before today's race. He said that yesterday, when the breakaway was forming, he tried to respond to attacks, but because of Jan Christen's crash, he had no teammates with him, so he couldn't do much.

He also said that they tried to catch the breakaway after, with help from other teams, but weren't able to.

I just found it, then I saw your post. There's a comment under the interview; "does he care?" 😁

I've been struck by the similarities between Almeida and Roglic now and then. No dwelling, smiling everything off, always looking forward, tomorrow is another day attitude 🤣 Compared to for example Van Aert and MvdP who will look pissed and never would joke about something as serious as losing 🤣 Or Remco with explanations of why things went wrong etc. 🤣

He probably will just go for a possible stage win 😖😥

Ayuso feeling relieved watching 👀 😌 🤣🤣🤣

I watched the interview and all i can say Rogla would never ever be that verbose. As for João already giving up, i like the laid back approach. It's not like he hasn't won Romandie and Itzulia already. Basically just training for the Tour.

Saying things in the lines of yeah, i was pre race favourite and now not ... Just priceless.

I don't think he completely gave up, but he knows it's a gargantuan challenge.
He doesn't strike me as a stage hunter kind of guy, at least not in breakaways.
I think he'll try to test the waters in the first real mountain stage and go from there. He's the team leader, he has to show up and prove that he deserves the status.

I agree Rogla is more laconic. Almeida uses more words for sure 🤣 Almeida is oftentimes accidentally/involuntarily comical though 😁 Not as adorable as Del Toro but weird funny definitely 😄

I've noticed though that when a rider isn't happy about where he is he'll use glasses in interviews, start and finishes. It's a pattern. If eyes are hidden emotions can easily be faked 😁

To be fair, if the team doesn't care, why would he?

I'm the only one to think he still can win TdS? And by a decent margin IMO.
I've also been saying this for the past couple of days. I still see him as the huge favourite. Gregoire is good, but he'll ship a lot of time in the MTT, and even the Splügenpass stage can be too tough for him if the real climbers properly go for it. Then there's stage 5 with two nasty ascents in the final after they've been over 2000 metres for a lot of the stage. If there's enough ambition among the race favourites, Gregoire will not win I think. Even though I like him a lot.
