All jokes aside, they actually overdid it.

If he is this strong. They should have won it by 40-50 seconds for good measure today. More "explainable". Then Vinge to drop Pog tomorrow for another 40-50 seconds and winning the stage. +2 minute lead. He wins the Tour.

yep I remember he beat Cancellara in some Tour and Fabian studied the tape because he couldn't believe it. (Officially he decided Contador had gotten a moto draft.)

I was just thinking of that recently; I think it was 2009, and I couldn't fathom out how a skinny guy had beaten a powerhouse on a rolling course.

This is the time gaps I’d get in the Tour de France game with my rider being 80-85 in their stats (max is 85). Straight destroyed the thought to be time.

Other teams need to go full complaint mode at the UCI/WADA/whatever organisation even if it'll be viewed hypocritical.
I'm in the minority on this subforum but I actually believe the field is way cleaner now than it used to be, I think the cynical "They're all on it, omerta still exist" view is quite flawed and I think there are quite a few panyagua riders. There'll be fewer on the top end but still some semi-competitive (I believe in Pinot for example). And while there will be plenty that are pushing grey areas (TUE here, tramadol there etc., not to mention all the dodgy staff and doctors that still have links to the 90s/00s), it still is within bounderies. What the Skeletor and Pogi are doing just crashes all bounderies.

If you discount Hindley (crashed 3 days ago) and Martin (only top 10 because of breakaway), place 3-11 of GC finished within 45s to each other today. That's a margin I see as reasonable in a top end endurance sport.
And then you have Vingegaard who was basically 10% better than all of them and still 5% better than Pog.

Like there is no other endurance sport that comes even close in terms of differences right now. Kipchoge is probably the greatest marathon runner of all time but imagine him beating 3rd place at the Olympics by 12 minutes. Unthinkable.

Created an account for this after years of lurking. This is the most hilarious thing I've seen in years of absolutely hilarious things.

I don't mind doping. I think it can sometimes make for better races and nobody wants to watch a tour where athletes simply cannot recover at all making them unable to do insane attacks 3 weeks in. But my issue that's been eating at me for years and greatly ruined my enjoyment of the sport itself is watching the "meta" of cycling completely disintegrate.

We used to have time trial specialists, punchers, climbers, stage race specialists (climbers who can time trial well compared to their peers but could NEVER beat time trial specialists like tony martin, cancellara, etc on the flat), and cobblestone specialists. The only group that is currently recognizable and retains their unique style is the sprinters.

Now you have Pogacar a 60kg rider winner Ronde van Vlaanderen against all the cobble specialists!? You have skeletal mutants like Froome, Pogacar, Vingegaard, etc destroying time trial specialists on the flat!? You have 70+kg classic specialists like Geraint Thomas randomly dropping riders like Nairo, Aru, Bardet, Pinot, etc in the high mountains and winning the whole tour. You have 70kg Bradley Wiggins a TT specialist track cyclist randomly winning the whole tour. You have Wout van aert winning high mountain stages and sprint stages in the same race.

It's all so tiresome.
