I'll post the riskiest of takes which no one would have dared imagine (or post) one month ago: Vingegaard is going to get dropped on the Tourmalet stage on Friday.
He just seems unwell or something & getting worse. Even today he wasn't particularly switched on either during the stage or at the end of the climb. He gives serious "I'm going to drop hard" vibes, like he's totally running on empty.

The Vuelta now turning into a monumental joke with the commentators again somehow astonished by what is happening!
And there it is, he must have cleaned out his colon before today's stage!!
To be honest, his Vuelta perfomance is proving the Clinic right. There is no freak dominance like in Basque Country or Tour de France. He is more or less at the same level or slight above than Mas, Ayuso, etc., which is more or less aligned to what should be expected. The same wattage level here in Vuelta and Vingo would be 10 minutes ahead.
How does he not have a single bad day in 3 weeks? He didn't have one in the past 2 tdf and looks like he is not going to have one in this Vuelta too. We are reaching Padun levels of insanity.
Guess he just unloaded after the tour and took the gamble that he has the base to build on again. The first 1,5wks of the Vuelta is basically like a hard block of training to have him micro peaking on the latter half. Effing insane if he pulls it off.

Plus he took "days off" in the Giro and Tour. It's not like he has been the GC leader for 3 GT's.
What day did he take off? He never intentionally lost time and finished ahead of many who were targeting GC
In the Giro, the first two weeks were days off for everybody.
