Jonas Vingegaard: Something is Rotten

Don't get me wrong. A guy getting a nosebleed (from kilometre 5 he says), isn't in isolation something mad. Nosebleeds happen, particularly during physical excersion. I'm more saying it is a piece of what seems to be a very easy jigsaw for Vingegaard (like a 4 piece jigsaw!).

I've had a lot of teammates in football who had noose-bleeds in summer, it just happens unexpected. But never heard of it with Stuyven.

For extra clarity, Thomas said he even couldn’t keep pace with Bjerg that day (who came back from getting dropped on the 1st climb to shredding the peloton apart an hour later), let along McNulty who went above Armstrong levels before the final act of the freak show started.
Yeah, UAE and JV lost some of their top climbing domestiques, so they just supercharged the rest. At least not a single one of them exploded, the fallout would have ruined Southern France for generations.

When people say Jumbo is avenging 2020 I sometimes think they might avenge 2007 sponsors for sending their leader home. :tearsofjoy:

Yeah I'm joking. But Grisha has come full circle. With a Dane, Named Rasmussen and the 2007 version is there with tears of happiness in his eyes :joycat:

Rasmussen got his revenge :joycat:

So what is the magic juice he is using?
If it's not EPO etc?

Perhaps some special ingredient he stumbled up
while slicing up all those fish?

I believe the top 3 are on something much more interesting than the oldschool methods.
In the last couple of years, there have been serious advancements made in mRNA modifications along with mitochondrial targeting methods. Mitochondrial targeting has been mainly used for cancer treatment, but I'm sure there's benefits to be had for everyone.

I used to put that aside as a bit too advanced, but actually (as a complete amateur) I find it increasingly likely. They seem so sure they are not going to get caught while I'm under the impression the authorities are actually looking. And the effect must be huge, and, at least partly, happen overnight, still the tests say nothing.

It seems there is a paradox at play here, that banning doping is just causing doping advancements to happen faster and making it even harder to get a handle on. Doping has always relied on the science and healthcare R&D sector for its advancements so maybe this would be happening anyway, but if it was as simple as the basics from the 90s maybe most teams would just stick with that.

People predicted he could drop Pog on the long climbs. It was surprising that Pog cracked so hard on Granon, so the time difference is surprisingly large obviously. If he doesn't crack that day and only loses 30 seconds like you would expect, he would be within a minute.
no he wouldnt, he would have destroyed him in TT which is quite normal for a 58kg guy; man glad its finished what a joke this Tour was

I had some difficulty translating the silence of the danish commentary crew of Rolf Sørensen and Dennis Ritter. They seemed on one hand emotional and happy but they've seen this before with Riis and Rasmussen so have to measure their words.

They totally failed to adress the elephant in the room obviously but they work under certain guidelines where proven guilty is king.

Ruining the party with historical references doesn't make happy wievers.

JV clearly showed how it's really done this year. Blame Jonas all you want, but don't tell me he is worse than Pog.
I mean its no question he is worse than Pog; he was really a nobody before; Froome had more talent than this guy

Thank goodness it’s not only me. I wrote the same thing in the state of the peloton thread. I cannot believe all the clowns who rated the Tour 8/10 or above - I suggest they follow WWF wrestling which is equally believable.

There is not a snowflakes chance in hell that Vingegaard is a better talent than Pogacar. Stage 11 was Pogacar’s fault. But stage 20 is inexplicable outside this forum. That Vingo was even close to WvA on that course is a complete joke. Jumbo are taking the %#ss.

And yet people are cheering because they considered that to be entertaining? They are part of the problem. Bjarne Riis was equally believable.

Avenging?

Pog: "I have 2 Tour de France titles"
Vingo: "We have a Hulk!"

For me a comparison between Froome & Vingegaard is splitting hairs, i.e. different eras, same symptoms.

Both landed in an ambitious team on the rise & both benefitted from a program already in place. Wiggins came before Froome, Roglic came before Vingegaard, whilst both Froome & Vingegaard came from nowhere & displayed unnatural superiority over their rivals. Vingegaard's history is a joke, i.e. anyone who handpicks his past performances (pre-2021) as evidence of his future champion credentials might as well say at least 100 young riders can drop watts mega bombs in the next 24 months & win the TdF. Following their logic we might as well believe Giovanni Aleotti (23 year old Bora rider & winner of the recent Sibiu Cycling Tour) is going to smash the 2025 Tour, for example. Generational talents (because that's what a TdF winner is supposed to be) should show a lot more than Vingegaard did.

And all things considered, Vingegaard at his current level would trounce peak Froome & probably rival Lance Armstrong circa 2000 (comparable Hautacam climbing time & he never looked on the limit). I guess that really just demonstrates how far down the rabbit hole into doping culture the peloton has once again plunged head first.

The question is always the same, i.e. will the bubble burst? For every Lance who eventually got busted, there's loads of super doped counter-examples who dominated for years before they casually retired with their riches & fame.
