Smart riding. He knows that if he take pulls he might get attacked. I also think he hanged on for dear life sometimes and couldn't do much. Vinge's doms were great today, Jorgenson fantastic when he clawed back Pog.
He was on his limit a lot, he’s light and not in his best shape. I’m impressed with Visma and him today. He needs to be at his best in the mountains, because that’s where he will have the the best chance to take time. Remco, man, that guy is pretty annoying sometimes. No way Vingegaard takes a pull, because that’s only going to help Pog and Remco. .

I will use this to call Pogi boring too.
For now I haven’t seen a moment this tour where Pogacar didn’t go for it. At least he wants to ride and go for it, as does Evenepoel.

We’ve said this a couple of times already in the past years. Pogacar, MVDP, Evenepoel and most of the time WVA too, love to race and ride aggressively. Some other riders don’t want to take any risk if they feel it might go wrong. They can do what they want, but we can say they rode defensively and boring.

The team will be happy enough with no time loss today. If he wants to win the race, he might have to dare to be stupid at some point, but I don't think this was a day for that, especially not after the puncture. I would like to see him fully cooperate with Pogačar one day though.

I won't call him boring until he starts riding to keep the current gap to take yellow in the TT (which I don't think he will). Vingegaard likes to pick his spots but when he goes for it he usually really goes for it. We might see a very agressive Vingegaard in the alps.

Riders are only boring and exciting based on what racing style suits them best. If they’re good enough to be able to attack from afar and gain huge time of course they’ll do that, otherwise they won’t. Then you have the ones whose only way of winning is throwing Hail Mary’s and hoping one sticks, usually good but not dominant riders.

I don't think boring is the best description, it's just that he mostly comes across as not having many thoughts of his own. He seems to just do exactly whatever the team car tells him. Which I guess explains why he looked a bit lost at times in last year's Vuelta.

Of course he doesn't win fans racing like this but he was very smart today. He knows only Pogacar can beat him, so he completely ignores all other gc riders. This is all a mind game and he is getting what he wants, a nervous and anxious Pogacar. He needs to survive Wednesday and the first weekend without being over 2 and half minutes on GC. If he is under, he can win the Tour.
