Teams & Riders Jonas Vingegaard thread: Love in Iberia

Vingegaard sounded happy after the stage, saying he felt more in control than before. Good confidence booster for the third week.

Also think he did the right thing to not attack Pog. Maybe Pog wasn't super fresh but he still distanced Rodriguez with 38s in 1k when he attacked. For Vingegaard to drop Pog he needs a Kuss more or less going all to put Pog in red before he attacks. Otherwise Pog just uses his kick to get on Vingegaard's wheel and when the gradients aren't super steep he benefits from the draft. And if Pog is fresher than Vinge thinks, well, then Vinge risks a counter attack. Now he was quite fresh when Pog attacked and could catch on without that much trouble.

Plugge was furious at the selfie tard after the stage. Was pretty clear the team had much different plans for today, but you can't make the race hard when at least 2 of their guys crash really hard.
Changed the entire dynamic of the stage. Van Baarle was pushing hard in the peloton early on and the break never really got a lead. Tragedy for the race really, because after that, there really was no race before the last hour and I do believe Jumbo had plans to drill it similarly to yesterday to tire Pog even more. In the end it looked like Pog still was tired, so job done I guess, but it could possibly have amounted to a gain today had they went for it and Vingegaard was more confident in the end. Missed opportunity today honestly, just like Pog yesterday due to circumstances and questionable decisions

Is there any other sport in the world where moron spectators play such a huge role in the actual outcome? Like, actively injuring athletes and changing the course of a race? It's like everyone has gone completely mad after covid. It wasn't great before, but this is just insanity.
