Surely his name is related to the English word "vineyard". That would make it quite edible (and potable).

A wing of a building.

I'm not an expert on the Danish language, but I would guess that etymologically Vingegaard probably doesn't mean "wing of a building-farm". Seems to me like it's a variant on the spelling of "vingaard", i.e. vineyard.

Wing-farm. Family probably had a poultry farm. Think a title with chicken makes sense.

Or, they had some sort of connection to the actual 'Vingegaard' farm, near the village of Vinge.
The problem with a thread title with 'Chicken' in it, is that it leads the thoughts to MR, and that should be avoided!

You're probably right about the MR reference. I'm not too bothered by the history of cycling, but some are.

That certainly makes more sense than "Wing Farm".

Jonas, being Danish and being called Rasmussen (like half of the country) will probably always be compared to the Chicken. And it has to be said, he does remind me of him a bit, sometimes. I don't mean in the Clinic sense, but they're physically quite similar. Jonas in yellow does look a bit like MR in yellow.

"Vingegaard, by far the better Rasmussen".
Though, it's worth noting that 'Rasmussen' doesn't even appear on his official UCI profile.

I think he has quite deliberately not included the name in all of his official accounts and so on.

Given the trend among Danish riders in recent years, I wouldn't have been too surprised if he'd changed his name to 'Vingegaard Hansen'. However, that doesn't appear to be the case.
