Could he be gentlemanly enough to let Roglic have this one? I would have never thought it possible, but maybe there is more to their dynamics than meets the eye. Anyway, a decent first week post tdf win.
If I was Roglic I would have an itch for life if I knew my team mate let me won just for sympathy and not because he was really no that strong.

I doubt he's just going to hand it to his teammates, but he can of course end up in a situation where he can't/shouldn't attack them, even though he might be stronger than them on the day.

He's doing the race to gather intel for the coming years, so I don't think he'll be too bothered about not winning it, especially not if the team still gets the victory.

I think the two are in completely different situation in relation to winning this Vuelta. Vinge doesn’t have to win it. It will not affect anything if he comes second to Roglic or lower. On the other hand, Roglic can’t afford to come behind Vingegaard as that means possibly no Tour next year and definitely fewer chances in general…

Well I hope Roglic is strong enough to win this Vuelta because he is inarguably the strongest in his team. After all Vingegaard has the Tour in his legs and he didn’t hold anything back in dominating Pogacar in July.

As for the new poll, I voted for the “discussion” title. The other one always belonged in the other forum ;)

Given his sparkling public persona, just his name is more than enough.

I wonder what his real condition is right now. He's been flying a bit under the radar -- well, as much as a guy who just crushed Pog in the Tour like he was swatting a pesky fly.

If he does a great ITT today we'll know he's feeling good. I don't exactly know how he'll go on a flat parcours but there's no reason to think he'll lose more than 30 seconds to Remco if he's in top shape.

He seems to be on a level close to the one he had in last year's Dauphiné, and there he lost more than 2 seconds per km to Ganna and slighty less than 1 s/km to Roglič in a similar time trial, though it was 6 km longer than today's. So I therefore expect him to lose somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute to Remco.

Wing-farm. Family probably had a poultry farm. Think a title with chicken makes sense.
Then I like better the etymological tale of a wing ornament on a church towards a chapel.
"Vingegaard flies on his wings over the church while sending his competitors into the chapel"

A bit more "wing buzz" about that tale than a "wing farm" for my taste :)

Vingegaard had 31 secs on Pogi in stage 16 of this year TdF before the climb.

If he can pull off a similar performance, he will finish in front of Remco.

Given that he won't pull off a similar performance, I expect him to finish within 20 secs of Remco.

He just really doesn't have the legs so far this Vuelta. I don't know if this will improve, his strong point is his recovery but if the level he starts from is crap it's not going to help him much.

In the end he lost 1:02 to Remco, so slightly worse than I expected. But as long as he's behind both Kuss and Roglič overall, it doesn't matter that much. His chances of winning the race will be decided over the weekend anyway.

Would the 4 weeks instead of 3 maybe have an effect? Sometimes it’s better to start the race earlier

Jumbo can ride passively and controlling from here on, they don’t need to put pressure on. I think Vingegaard’s role will be to mark attacks without pulling to protect Kuss.

He forgot to take a dump today. With his form from last climbs it was expected to lose some time. Roglic looks the stronger man for now.

Form just not at 100% anymore. He is still in contention to win it at 95% though. But at the TdF he would have obviously crushed the likes of Kuss in a ITT like this.

A very bad TT. He was just 11 s faster than kuss. Naturally far from his shape of the tour, but everything can happen. Between ayuso and remco with roglic, almeida and vingegaard in the middle, there's just 1 min 15 s of difference. This is nothing with the mountains to come, like angliru and tourmalet.

It was made worse by him starting too fast. So he expected to be stronger than he was.

Significant loss today. I think Jonas will be more like a protected super-dom from now on and JV will favour Rogla more. That being said Jonas will keep fighting for a podium place as the terrain ahead is favourable for him. I just don't think he'll win the race.
