He's not dead yet, but Visma should probably target stage wins from now on.

At least he's giving Remco a proper beating, so he's getting something out of today's tactics.

There's a suggestion for a new thread title, as the "Mountain Sprinter" one doesn't fit any more:

Vingegaard: Not a Dead Fish.

Side-note; didn't Uttrup call herself a dead fish at some point?

I don't think Vingegaard is gonna have issues with Giro fatigue...
After the Tour, he'll be busy setting up the nursery at home.
Sorry I thought I was in the Pogacar 3d.

Btw since I'm here, I think a fan should be proud of Jonas: he shows the infamous balls. He may have been defeated on the road, but he won in the heart of true cycling fans. Certainly my already high admiration has grown.

Restpect for the gutsy attack, committing to it and going down with his ship. There’s always still a chance for an off day by Pogacar and a tough final trilogy of stages that suits him so I’m waiting for that before calling it over.

No.

If Vinge attacks Pog again he's going to get countered again.

Great ride and form, especially from the crash hampering everything. Like I said after he showed he was in good form, he’s in the position Pogacar was the last two editions except it’s all at once increase of spread over two races. I don’t think he or the team will give up but they might not fight as hard after what happened.

I think he's as good as 2023 uphill. He lacks a bit in other departments (downhill, flat, ITT), but that wouldn't matter in this TdF

I agree Vingo numbers are monstruous today as well. He also put 1:40 on Evenepoel who did great.

Pogi is just stronger than ever + more experienced than ever + better team than ever.

Of course not, that would be weird.
I definitely don't think he came to the Tour not hoping to win it. However, he can be hoping to win - and doing the best he can to actively reach that goal - while fully aware that it's entirely possible that he just won't.
Today both he and his DS came to the truth of being a solid 2nd place is Success. It's pretty amazing what he's accomplished with so little time to prepare. They should also be conscious that the last week could do some damage to the balance of the season if he's forced to go too deep. If I were their strategist I'd be sitting on Remco or 2nd tier challengers. Tadej and UAE may throw someone up the road but there isn't any reason to go nuclear to build the lead as the TT will provide a better signature win.

Can anybody tell me what Tratnik actually has done this race apart from handing a bike on stage 9? Even on flatter days, I see Keldermania and Jorgensen in the frontlines instead. Tratnik has been MIA the entire race despite having decent legs.
