If Vigo didn't have his crash in April, but a preparation as planned:
he would have been during this TdF:
a) weaker
b) stronger
c) more or less the same

???

Nobody will know for certain. Most likely stronger and certanly with more base for 3rd week.

It’s hard to imagine Vingegaard wouldn’t have been stronger had he not crashed. He did remarkably well given the crash, but how could that not have had an impact? I’m not sure he would have won, but his form has clearly fallen off. This is no surprise. Pogacar’s form dropped last year and his injuries weren’t nearly as bad. And given that Pogacar, Vingegaard, Landa, Almeida, Yates, and so on are all pushing their best watts ever, I don’t see the argument that Vingegaard has pushed his best watts ever (on one stage) sufficient evidence that he wouldn’t have pushed even more watts than he has.

More watts on more stages.

Vingegaard might not have won but he put Evenepoel firmly back in his place dropping him with a nice attack and pulling away. Overall a great Tour for him and a stage win beating Pogacar in a sprint. It’s not first, it’s better than I thought he’d do, but he’s second overall and best after a terrible injury.

Well. Since we all know Pogacar's spirit it was an obvious suicide fight back Remco. He should have made him understand that he was stronger and get in line, that way Mas and Carapaz would arrive. at that point he once dug the gap, and having taken them back it was obvious that he was now walking on death row. Having said that, understanding Pogacar, I feel a bit sad for Jonas because today he put his pride and heart on the road. he deserved the victory.

Thumbs up for Vingo doing full kamikaze style tt tomorrow, even though no yellow but nice finale cracker. Winning stage from Pogi like 1 sec would be almost acceptable. :joycat:

I don't think they are allowed to. Richie Porte wasn't allowed to sleep in a campervan in the car park of the allotted hotel.

And even if they were, he wouldn't be able to.
At least I don't think so... he's got a house in Glyngøre, and - I think - one on Switzerland. Does he also have one near Nice? How many houses does he have?

Chapeau Jonas. When he goes for it, he really goes for it! (duh)

Hopefully this beauty does the Vuelta and gets his win after inexplicably gifting it to a much worse rider last year.

Another strong performance by Vingo, he did well to counter Remco and close the battle for 2nd. All in all it's been a great Tour by him, even in absolute terms (and absolutely incredible considering the difficult circumstances). He really had only two days when he clearly underperformed (Pla d'Adet and Isola) but never really cracked.

One on Switzerland? Sounds a little selfish to place a house on an entire country. And then not even live in it permanently...

7 seconds was a big gap to suddenly open up in the finish. We know Pog has a good sprint but did Jonas sit up?
It looked like he did to me. Pogacar kept looking back and Vingegaard was finally like just go already then put in like a fake dig and immediately sat up when Pogacar went.

If all of you (as in all the fanboys here) do not understand the difference between, e.g., Campenaerts and Vinge then you are blinded by the fact you are rooting for the guy. Vinge does this after every stage, he has to say dumb and passive aggressive *** like I did it for my daughter and so on. He seems to be the most fragile man in the history of cycling and imho it is not a good look. Of course, as I said before, he can do whatever he wants, but it does not make a fan out of me.
I will not reply anymore I hope you lot enjoyed while it lasted.

You do not do yourself in favours with your choice of language. The TDF is the biggest race on the calendar, so there have been many occasions over the years of riders crying whether they win or lose. Who cares if Vingegaard contacts his nearest and dearest after stages. You are the one who seems to be into fandom!

Been a tough tour for Vingo, but I admire the effort in getting to the race at all after what happened to him. I don't particularly mind which of the top guys wins these days but hope he's back at the race in good health and good shape next year because it's not like we're blessed with many riders who can offer any sort of competition to Pogzilla.

I'm sure he can't wait to get home at this point.
