A mixed year, but good to end on a high note. He has been in a good place mentally already since Dauphiné, perhaps also in spring. Should be much fresher and still plenty hungry this winter, last year he was completely empty after Pologne.

I really hope he won't ride the Giro, even if it will be very difficult to mount a proper challenge to Pogi in the Tour. And the Vuelta is good as second target.

The Giro would be his third consecutive GT, but he surely wants to win it.

Why?

I will never understand this worryness about doing 4 consecutive GTs. One thing is doing 3 GTs in the same year and another GT in the next year.
Other thing is doing Tour-Vuelta and 8 months later, racing the Giro (and 5 weeks later the Tour).
He has almost 8 months to recover and prepare the Giro.

Opportunity cost. It would compromise all other targets for him, except the WCRR and Lombardia, which are bad goals for him.

Tour-Vuelta gives him better chances for the Tour and good chances for the Vuelta. And it will also be better for the WC in 2027 to not ride the Giro, so I hope he waits until 28 with that.
What do you mean by all other targets? I never saw Vingegaard interested in something other than winning GTs.

He can have this schedule:
Gran Camino/Algarve/Andalucia/other race
Catalunya (never won it)
Giro
TdF
GdL

If he decides to race the Tour, he will probably race:
Gran/Camino/etc
PN/TA
Catalunya
Dauphiné
TdF
Vuelta

Other than PN, I can't see what new wins he is sacrificing

After the stage today, he says that he was troubled by illness since his stage 9 victory. Today was his best day since then.

Kuss also confirmed Vingegaard was suffering:

All things considered, it was a pretty good GT by him.

I don't think "new" wins matter. Best possible chance to win the Tour matters. As good chance as possible to win another GT conditional on that is the second highest priority. Of tertiary targets, the main spring stage races least compromise his main targets.

For Vingegaard it matters, according to his recent words. He wants to complete the GT set and I think Giro next year is likely.
