The Alpine stages really showed Pogacar still has a weakness that if you race hard for 3 weeks straight, he feels it. Not just physically but also mentally. I think they could've cracked him. But just cracking him once doesn't mean he loses the TDF, he can build up a nice lead in the first 2.5 weeks.

Realistically if you lose 2 minutes less in the ITT and then Hautacam you're still in a striking distance depending on the stage designs in the Alps.

Pogacar was ridiculously strong at the end of the Tour last year, and after riding the Giro as well. I don't think it as straightforward at you think. He likely had some infection and still didn't lose a second to Vingegaard this year. Really no reasons to be optimistic for the Dane.

So his dreams are a Tour more and then all the one-week stage races and maybe the Drone Classic again (which apparently he has won before - I don't know what it is, he says it isn't really a one-day race, maybe his hobby is flying drones, who can tell?). No mention of Giro...

Yes he does mention Giro too! It's one of his goals.

It's regrettable that he couldn't ride the Vuelta last year, despite that being the pre-season plan.

In 2022, he asked the team after the Tour if he could ride the Vuelta too, but that was a spur of the moment and not part of the pre-season plan. With Rogla always meant to lead there, it's somewhat understandable that Vingegaard didn't go after the team finally won the Tour for the first time.

The gap would be over 40s if Remco wasn't there for Vingegaard.
Pogacar was 30s faster in 7 km of climbing at 8%. In a fresh effort this is big, clearly showed Pogacar's VO2 max is on another level compared to Vingegaard. Even more insane is the difference for everyone else. More than 1'.
Lipo for example lost 1'40" in 7 km. These numbers really tell me Pogacar will be unbeatable at least until 2027, and we need to count on young riders to make a huge leap to reach his level. I don't believe in Vingegaard anymore.

No, I always attack full gas in the first km, which isn't a great idea when you've planned to ride for two hours or more.

I only read the first part of the headline and was shocked to discover that Vingegaard is Pidcock's mother. Yet another child to dedicate victories to.

Vingegaard is a man, therefore he cannot be Pidcock's mother (he is also only three years older). Your deductive skills are not enviable.

It's way too optimistic but probably a proper way of thinking for a top sportsman. He lost a lot of time on his bad days but states that on his best days Pog couldn't drop him. He doesn't take into account that Pog likely also had some worse days (later in the race) plus Vingo in top form actually lost substantial time in relatively short Peyreguades TT.

If Vindegaard deeply believes that he's closed the gap; that's good for morale and training going forward. Considering how beat up he was from injuries he actually has closed a gap. The Vuelta performance was not a benchmark by itself and I'm sure he'd admit that to his peers.
That, on his best days Pog couldn't drop him doesn't really say anything unless he was able to put serious time into competitors. It just means that Pog wasn't feeling it, was tired or strategically maintained the status quo for a better situation. Pretty much what Jonas did to a much less competitive field at the Vuelta and a smart way to win a GT.
