Lots of people talking nonsense. I did not see a weaker Jonas last year. coming in second and winning the vuelta.
All i see is him just staying at his level.

What Pogacar does is irrelevant to Jonas his performances.

Realistically, Vingegaards' performance in the Tour was weaker last year than in 2024. But that's more down to either *** up the preperation or other factors, that's not some severe state of decline.

I still think Vingegaard races too little, but i like what he said about Almeida.
He might grow on me yet.

Don't think it's accurate he races too little.
In a disrupted spring last year, he still had 62 days (with 2 GT's) . In the years when he tried Tour-Vuelta Froome had about 70 dyas without disruptions.
And I don't think people said he races "too little".

he gets his race days from Gt's & GC. that's different from having a mix. You can cut half those gc days away. As he just needs to stay upright in those. I understand what i wrote is a bit short-sighted, but there is also truth in it imo.

I can see your point and I don't fully deny it.
But for a GT rider aiming for 2 GT's while riding against Pogacar probably requires a bit measured racing.
I would be more critical to him if he was doing Nibali 2014 or, God forbid, Armstrong in his late years.
But at least he shows in a good enough shape to fight for the wins.

I have seen Jonas talk about rider safety on 7/7 days so far this race. Everything seems to be too dangerous for him these days

To be fair , the weather has been abysmal and Jonas has always preferred the safer path.

Mind you, i think cycling will only get more accident prone. Even with extra safety measures.
Little to be done about the change in mindset i'm seeing and i believe will only continue. Victory above all else.
Those whom crashed, or getting older are most prone to changing. But overall, I would not be surprised if some stat guy discovered crashes have increased in comparison to decades prior.

I think your last couple of posts show you're a fan and have an overall positive position on were Vingegaard stacks up.
I agree with your numbers, his position, but against Pogacar in particular in my opinion is were Jonas was not able to respond as quickly to pulses in speed by Tadej.
He did react and was able to settle in but it just takes longer.
Watching Paris Nice, Vingegaard looks great, very smooth, good conditioning, but I see a slight snap missing, a smooth rather than rough edge on his instantaneous power production. Now seeing Pellizzari, Ciccone, Del Toro, Seixas, few others, Vingegaard might be better climber but not better at closing the gap.. If Ayuso and others are peaking perfectly it's going to be a tough race for Vingegaard at TDF, Giro is a different story.. My same observations, just a less prestigious field.

Giro is his main race. I can not give an honest beyond that on this part of the forum.
I don't even know if i can say that, or should just re-quote your post in the clinic.
If there's a mod, please pm me how to handle this.

Can i mention the clinic for a more full honest answer, or just re-quote in the clinic?

From what we are seeing now, he will have good form for Giro. Does Visma have anyone who can supply help in Italy and not be toasted for France?

Piganzoli should be good. Kelderman as well, based on 2022, 2023 and 2025 Kuss is good over 2 GT's as well.

Campenaerts will go were Jonas goes methinks. he's always good to have on your team, even if he can only do so much in the mountains.
