Omg. Some serious LOLs at Remco as super-domestique at the merged team.

Please tell me why a guy who at age 22 won the velo d’or (a year after career threatening injury) should now play second fiddle to anyone?

Without Covid, this whole narrative would be completely different. Instead we just got a refueling for those with RDS (AKA “the haters”).

I actually love it. He will continue to be an underdog and therefore more and more likable as he again and again turns the negative into positive.

Having said that, I have little doubt that he’s headed over to Ineos.

Remco is very strong, entertaining and a superb rider. But so far there is nothing to suggest that he can perform at the level of the Tour's version of Vingegaard or Pogacar.

When Vingegaard was Remco's age there was even less to suggest that he can perform at the level of the Tour's version of Vingegaard or Pogacar.

The guy has so much potential, he's won a GT. He might be on a team that actually knows how to win GT next year. Let's just wait and find out.

Agree on Alpecin. And also Lidl Trek. They have decent classics team and Asgreen would make it even better.
Asgreen could be a relative steal for somebody, provided he can reach his Flanders 2021 level again. A lot of the QS riders fell off this year and I wonder if it's because they knew something was going on behind the scenes?

Tbf, Remco and Vingegaard turned pro in the same year

Have you considered that the forum is not a hive mind and the hate might be coming from entirely different subsets of forumers

UnoX certainly offers a big paycheck towards Asgreen or is their roster already full!?
They are at 28 (or 29, there is talk about Sindre Kulset having a contract for next year as well), so in theory space for Asgreen (and Casper Pedersen if S.Kulset is not contracted) but the question is budget.

People always say that Uno-X has a lot of money, but I’m not sure how accurate that is. They failed to bring in a new sponsor during this summer as they said they targeted and ended up bringing in Rema1000 as a sponsor, a brand which is owned by the same people that owns Uno-X. I think it would need another sponsor bringing in like 2m € for Uno-X to afford Asgreen.

Wielerflits: Van Aert wants Lampaert at Jumbo; only six would go from SQS; Evenepoel expected to be part of the new team

JV only has 3 Belgians signed for 2024, so my guess would be Evenepoel, Van Wilder, Lampaert, Vansevenant - and then I could see them retain Lecerf and Gelders for their potential.

Merlier probably wants to be on a team where he can ride GTs.

Alaphilippe, Asgreen, Cattaneo, Hirt, Landa, Masnada, Pedersen and Cerny don't fit the strategy, so will get released.

I disagree with both, as he would be the 2nd priority to MvdP or Mads P in most classics.

I see Ineos, Bahrain and UAE as more likely destinations for him - UAE especially if Pogacar is limiting his classics campaign in order to become competitive in the Tour.

Asgreen has spent most the season getting back from injury and has recently appeared to reach his former level.

UAE doesn't have free spots anymore, they would need to break a contract with one of their current riders.

Also Asgreen is not signing with a Pro team, he is at the other end of the spectrum.

Further I don't see Pedersen going to Uno-X, as he is rapidly developing into a top 5 lead out rider, who can also do well himself in cobbled and hilly races.

I rather see him going to Alpecin or Jayco - or whatever team Merlier ends up on.

It's looking like they will have a guaranteed WC for the Tour next year if QS disappears tho. Also for Giro and Vuelta (but they'll probably skip one like Lotto), so maybe sponsors will be interested now. And riders too more and more and there is no reason not to go there anymore.

They will be a Pro Team in name only when QS disappears as they will have guaranteed wildcards to everything.

They do, Formolo is strongly rumoured to have signed for Movistar.

Being 2nd priority is better than having a really good team that could support him. UAE would be just stupid if disregarding the money and Bahrain is a fairly average classics team, especially for the cobbled classics.

Don't exactly understand why you think UAE would be "stupid"?
He would become their obvious captain for all the cobbled classics, provided Pogacar does not ride. He would be an upgrade to a Trentin who is over the hill but still servicable as his No 2.

Bahrain would be a slightly different dynamic with Mohoric and Wright in the mix, but it would be quite a good trio for cobbled and hilly classics.

Personally I hope for Ineos though, he and Ganna could tear up the cobbled classics together :p

Got to love when a rider gets hate for doing what the forum says by losing time on purpose after being dropped so they can go in breakaways for wins and possible KoM once their top GC position goes up in smoke instead of doing what they hate and fighting for an anonymous 8th-10th place and no wins.
Why not 28 minutes then ? Or 29? More time lost must mean more time to recover right?

BS

Not me. I actually want Evenepoel to go to Visma Soudal & unleash the most terrible vengeance upon Vingegaard from within the team & scupper his dominance. The King is dead, long live the King... for 5 minutes until Evenepoel usurps him in an internal battle (especially in an ITT heavy TdF next year). The Belgian press in particular will play a key role in this planned demolition of the Danish Dynamite. It won't matter how many daughters, birthdays or teammates Vinge has, he can't dedicate a victory... when he doesn't win.

But I'm petty, so I probably don't speak for the majority.
I like your style. And it could happen like that if Remblow will prove he can actually ride a proper GT for once. But Vinge stands firm in the sunlight and has better odds.
