Jumbo - QuickStep merger

Unfortunately such legal moves, new entity and signing a new contract, that usually leads to imminent employee contract termination without much compensation involved. So i would be careful with signing for this new team, would likely first exhaust the legal options in regards to current contract.
What new entity? It says he wants to take over the existing WT licence so paying agent stays the same.

I can see it working, a shelter team for 2024 maybe 2025. Gives riders and staff time to find a place somewhere else.

If it happens they should name the team "The Wolfpack"
I though that this was a possibility but rider and staff are in a bad position. They cannot leave SQS since they are under contract. Its already too late to find good team with a good salary. Even if they challenge in court. It will take time and 2024 season will be over.

Patrick Lefevere is working on a 'shelter team' for victims of takeover

Couldn't read the article, but is Lefevere doing this so Remco can't go anywhere without his new team paying for his transfer? Or to try and force him to go to Jumbo?

Sounds like "cat and mouse" going on. If I am Remco and if I want to go to Ineos, I call Lefevere's bluff and make him find funding for this "shelter team."

While it gives Lefevre a purpose as saviour of the remaing team, I think that Bakala (80% shareholder of everything that relamains) is forced to keep the current team alive because the WT license has no value in a merger scenario and Remco is free to move (giving Ineos more firing power to sign him as there is no fee needed to buy him out). Of course he need sponsors to keep that team alive.

I have so many questions with this story, not gonna lie I don't understand it.

If QS doesn't disappear, technically all riders have a contract there, even Remco. Same with sposnors like Soudal. Bakkala/Lefevere could obviously decide to let them out of their contract, but why again?

Also I don't believe they have the budget to pay what's left if Soudal leaves, QS will have to pay more than they are doing now, or they need to let a guy like Alaphilippe our of their contract (to Total like HLN states, but would Total take over his full salary?)

Another question, they want to keep the QS license, so they need 27 riders... How are they gonna fill up to 27 if 5 to 10 (strong) riders will leave for Jumbo? Would just be filled up with low level riders, get some of the bad Jumbo Dutch riders for free? QS would turn into a very mediocre team.

If Soudal and Spezialized are the only ones leaving there might be enough money left for a cheap QuickStep-team. If Spezialized goes in with Soudal-Visma, Cervelo can come the other way and bring in some money as it would be their only WT-team (as it looks).

If Remco and 5 other big hitters goes to Jumbo and Pat fills the team with young riders and cheap guys it could possibly float.

Soudal alone is supposedly 12M... They would have to make huge budget cuts, possibly also in the performance departments (altitude camps for example), what rider is gonna be happy with this (only the ones that have no other options imo).

It could float but it would be a pretty bad team. Just sad honestly.

I think Lefevre (and the riders left) will be fine with that.

If they still can keep Merlier they will be competitive in a lot of races. Lamperti is a massive talent and can win smaller races. Hirt and Masnada can go to the Giro and not be useless. If Van Wilder stays (which I think could be possible after his interview) he can do well. Lecerf and Srvcek also.

And we might see Landa as QuickStep GT-leader?

Forget about Patrick, Partick and Remco. They got it covered.

As for the rest. The ones that doesn't have a deal with JV. Don't sign anything when called in the office. Send a legal representative. With current contracts and sponsors intact, a beemer for each team member and one for legal representative is still at play. After all that you can still sign a new contract with Saint Patrick or any other team. If you chose so.

Being careless and singing what will be offered. That at maximum comes down to, in best case scenario, Honda e. One for the whole team and legal representative. Don't do it.

Or being able to say look I'm the nice guy, I tried.
He may be hypocritical at times, he may sometimes say stupid and disrespectfull stuff and I don't like how he publicly handles feuds like with Bennett but he has always done everything in his power to support and stand by his riders and especially his staff who are loyal and correct to him.

Imo this is not a publicity stunt, I think he couldn't care less about his image. This is him caring about his staff and trying to find a solution for everyone.
