It seems like for a lot of people the Vuelta has now become the standard: in every race Jumbo will decide among themselves who wins. Of course that's not going to happen. Normally if you have one guy in the lead and then the rivals have to chase, it's an advantage to have multiple leaders rather than one. Then there isn't a golden boy Roglic and his fans who feel "hurt" that he isn't allowed to win. Because he's not riding against his own teammates, but against Pogacar.

I thought Jonas was the golden boy? I am a Pog fan but it seems to me that the Jonas fans are way more defensive than the Roglic fans.

The Vuelta example was pretty obvious, I think. I didn't see a lot of complaints about Vingegaard not being allowed to win it. About Roglic, however... you'd think he was a prisoner of an evil empire.

Totally, Vingegaard was allowed to attack twice. Roglic went once and the internet lost it's mind. Plus when Roglic went, it was more tempo than anything else.

The Tour is not the Vuelta. Vingegaard the introvert does not strike me as someone who would be fine with bold, extroverted Remco challenging him at the Tour from within his own team. It seems like it has a ton of potential to be a very bad situation. I can't be the only one who sees the two do not have personalities that will blend well together, especially in a competitive environment.

Let me get this straight:

If Lefevere manages to create a "new" team, said team can continue under the current QS WT license, and will not actually be a new team, just the same team under a new name, and thus the team will be saved?
And if all the riders who are contracted with QS for next year decide to stay - or have to stay, due to having contracts - then the "merger" will actually just be Soudal-the-company switching which team they sponsor... again!

In any other area of business, the purchase (or merger) of a company will usually include a non-compete clause for those selling/swapping their shares.

I would be greatly surprised if that was not also the case here, but then this IS cycling after all

I was talking about winning the Vuelta overall, by the way. Clearly Vingegaard could have won it just as much as Roglic did. But the Vingo fans didn't really complain about that, AFAIK. Or not nearly as often.
